The CEO of United Health Care gets shot in cold blood and the world is shocked at the response from the US citizens on social media. Joy, happiness, justification, rooting for the criminal to get away, thirsting after the shooter…is it the ugly side of America? Or is this the side of humans that’s there all along. Let’s face it, the guy ran a company that literally causes pain, suffering and kills people. But who is responsible for that, him, United Health Care or Congress? Are we mad at the wrong people?

There’s a rodeo in Las Vegas, and most of these cowboys don’t know they’re calling themselves slaves. Why do we keep words around that are rooted in hatred?

Last night I had a chance to go over writings of mine from my 30s and 40s. They were angry…and many verged on homophobia. Why was I so mad? And why did so many places want my show and column when I was? Anger today is what wins elections, but anger is ugly, and harmful. And fills me with regret.

Nickel Boys, a new film, shows yet again the horrors of being Black in America in our recent past. Why aren’t all Blacks more angry? And why do Whites tell them they shouldn’t be…they SHOULD be angry, for a long, long time…but is it productive?

As the year ends maybe it’s time to let the anger go America. It doesn’t serve us well.

It’s been a great two weeks of shows here, but I’ve been on vacation here in Las Vegas and I’ve learned a lot about myself and about the USA.

Things I Learned On Vacation about Me, and the USA

I have paid over $150 a month for nine years to Nationwide Pet Insurance for their Whole Health with Wellness plan for Ember.

Now, they have decided to not offer it in Nevada and CA, and other states, and are cancelling 300k policies. Not for nonpayment or too many claims, but just because they can. It’s almost impossible to insure a senior pet, and they know it. So why not leave people with the policies grandfathered in and just not offer them going forward?

Greed. Pure and simple. And they are blaming vets for “rising costs…” Like THEY are not partially to blame for these rising costs.

THIS is what’s wrong with USA. Corporations, not people, not government, Corporations run it all and do what they want. And if your pet dies because of it, so what.
