A little story behind this mix... 

I find myself listening to Kenny Chesney's No Shoes Radio on Sirius/XM quite a bit.... in fact, my radio is pretty much always tuned to it when I'm in my truck, which is a LOT! Aside from being a big Kenny Chesney fan for years, I love the eclectic selection of songs that are included in the programming... everything from Reggae, ska and surf music, to 70's, 80's, 90's and 2000's rock, to classic soul and classic and new country. Then you have great classic singer/songwriter tunes and all those beachy vibe songs.... you even hear an occasional old-school R&B/Hip Hop song thrown in to keep it interesting! ...and of course, being Kenny's Radio Station you also get all the great Kenny songs! 

This mix is based on that programming, and includes a little taste of everything mentioned, of course with some DJ Special Ed mixing and mashing to add a little spice to it and keep it interesting! It's a mix that's great for when you're road trippin', out on the boat, at the beach, tailgating, bar-b-queuing, working, working out or even out on a run... literally anywhere!

California-based artist Ronnie I makes a run for the border, with his release of "Somewhere South of Mexico." This track features a raucous roots rock sound that's highlighted by acoustic rhythm guitar and screaming Hammond organ, while electric bass and drums form a powerfully charged rhythm section. Ronnie delivers a passionate vocal performance here, expressing heady themes of escapism and a search for individual bliss, while his rough and weathered baritone paints an idyllic image of paradise. Southern and country rock fans in particular will love the raw energy and free-spiritedness of Ronnie I's "Somewhere South of Mexico."

Excellent production, solid mix. Good clarity and use of stereo space. Incredible energy and atmosphere. Sounds incredible at high volumes. Great intro, nice ringing acoustic riff. Bass and drums sound terrific together, fantastic bass line and groove. The Hammond sounds amazing, good drawbar settings and awesome playing technique. The organ is really the foundation of this track, great choice. Outstanding vocal performance; extremely engaging style and delivery, good power and range. Brilliant lyrical content; compelling themes that will absolutely resonate with audiences, wonderful imagery and a solid flow. All in all, this is a tremendous track that should have broad appeal across the entire roots rock scene, from country rock to Southern rock, even including jam band fans. Stellar work here, from top to bottom!

Joshua Duerksen, renowned by his DJ name DJ JD, was raised in the Mid-West and California, where his musical tastes were shaped by a diverse range of genres, spanning from Classic Rock and Country to Hip Hop and 90's Dance. He firmly believes that "Good music knows no genre."

Following his graduation from high school, JD enlisted in the United States Navy, dedicating a decade of service to his country. While stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, he had the privilege of meeting several influential DJs who became his mentors, imparting invaluable knowledge about the various aspects of DJing.

In between deployments, JD diligently honed his mixing and performance skills, gaining experience as a Club DJ, Mobile DJ, and Dive Bar DJ. After completing his naval service, he relocated to Idaho and founded a mobile disc jockey entertainment company, specializing in providing exceptional DJ services for weddings, birthday parties, and school dances.

In 2009, JD embarked on a new venture, joining XMiX DJ Music Pool as a video editor. In this role, he skillfully re-edited music videos to match the remixes produced by the talented editors and producers at XMiX, catering to the needs of Video DJs and facilitating seamless music video mixing. During his tenure, JD significantly enhanced his audio editing prowess and mastered the art of creating audio edits and remixes. John Kelly Wilson is a songwriter whose influences come from a wide variety of music genres. Growing up listening to all types of music including country, rock, pop, R&B/Soul, standards, singer/songwriters, etc, you can find those elements in the songs he's creating. As much as he loves great melodies/hooks/lyrics, he found he always gravitated to wanting to know who wrote the music/lyrics, and who the the studio players are, and what their creative process and inspirations were behind the songs. His knowledge and interest in the songwriters, producers, session musicians, and the artists of all music genres, especially country, runs deep!

Having always loved country music, his focus has been on song output inspired by the current contemporary country sound, country pop, and classic country. Working with several top producers in Nashville, TN, and A-List session players, with vocals provided by great Nashville studio veterans, these songs/demos are the beginning of a diverse country music catalog that continues to grow with many more songs in production, and on the way. He's also beginning to write a number of pop and R&B songs, and instrumentals.

Recently, several of his songs, including "(Tonight) Let's Live For Today" and "Always Looking" in both March and April 2021, "I Know You Know" in January 2023, and "Summer Sunday Drivin'" in November 2023 were selected as Top 5 Songs Of The Month by top industry publication Songwriter Universe Magazine. In addition, "(Tonight) Let's Live For Today" was selected as Broadjam's Song Of The Month in October 2021. Also, his songs have been semi-finalists out of thousands of entries in the Music City SongStar Songwriting contest, and the International Songwriting Competition. He has also placed several tracks in advertising and TV sync opportunities. He simply loves writing, and hopes others love his music too.
