162 years ago, Nash Daily wrote to his family about his experiences during the Battle of Gettysburg from Newport, Kentucky. 

Daily supported emancipation and the necessity of reuniting the United States as he writes, (quote) “it takes a long time for any people to lay on one side all their prejudices, but it is evidently the Lords will that Slavery should be wiped out” (end quote).

Daily joined a chorus of voices who used religious language to oppose slavery during the Civil War.

Rooted in the musical soils of Kentucky, Dynamite Traditions is the debut EP from T&T—a cross-generational stringband made up of two husband-and-wife duos: the Taylors (millennial twin fiddlers) and the Turinos (seasoned players on banjo, accordion, and guitar). Together, they breathe life into a high-energy blend of Cajun dance tunes, Appalachian reels, and modern old-time medleys.

This EP is a journey through deep folk currents: from the rollicking Cajun pulse of Lacassine Special to the fiddle-fired tension of Sally in the Garden / Waiting for Nancy. The band’s regional influences shine in medleys like Waterbound / Grub Springs, while original tunes such as Big Grove Waltz (Tom Turino) showcase T&T’s interpretive prowess and reverence for melodic tradition.

Engineered, mixed, and mastered by Andrew Taylor of Flying Fiddle Productions, Dynamite Traditions captures the spark of porch jams and dance halls with tight arrangements, live energy, and tonal grit. These are revivalists with a plunger in one hand and a fiddle in the other—blasting old sounds into new spaces.
