Debate con Yayo Herrero,antropóloga, educadora social e ingeniería técnica agrícola, Cátedra Unesco de Educación Ambiental y Desarrollo Sostenible de la UNED y Emmanuel Rodríguez López, sociólogo e historiador, Fundación de los Comunes y Observatorio Metropolitano de Madrid, en torno a la vigencia del pensamiento de Kropotkin: Interdependencia y reciprocidad en la construcción social e institucional.

 

PIOTR KROPOTKIN Y EL DEBATE SOBRE LA NATURALEZA HUMANA
La contribución de la cooperación en la evolución de nuestra especie
(Madrid, abril/mayo, 2019)

Piotr Kropotkin (1842-1921) renunció a una vida de privilegios y a una prometedora carrera científica para convertirse en un militante y teórico anarquista, lo que le procuró largos períodos de prisión y un prolongado exilio. Pese a las dificultades, Kropotkin mantuvo una intensa actividad intelectual, que le valió el reconocimiento de los círculos científicos de su época, como expresaba el obituario que la revista Nature —publicación de la que fue colaborador— le dedicó el 3 de febrero de 1921. Estas Jornadas pretenden recuperar las aportaciones excepcionales de Kropotkin al evolucionismo contemporáneo, en concreto el papel de la cooperación en el surgimiento de nuestra especie, una propuesta que plasmó en su libro El apoyo mutuo. Un factor de evolución (1902) y desarrolló durante dos décadas.

Desde los años 50 del siglo pasado y hasta el presente, Ashley Montagu, Stephen Jay Gould, Michael Tomasello, entre otros científicos, han resaltado la presciencia de las aportaciones de Kropotkin. Kropotkin asoció sociabilidad, desarrollo cognitivo y longevidad, que constituye hoy uno de los ejes más fructíferos de la Teoría de Historia de vida, imprescindible para la comprensión de nuestra propia especie. Consideró que la potencialidad de la condición humana en todos sus sentidos solo puede expresarse socialmente a través de nuestro lento y prolongado crecimiento, pues es el resultado de un proceso evolutivo en el que la articulación social fue esencial. Y, siguiendo a Darwin, vinculó el surgimiento de la ética humana a partir de los instintos sociales de especies precursoras, un origen evolutivo de la moralidad en cuyo contexto propuso cimentar científicamente el establecimiento de una sociedad libertaria.
Estos son los aspectos que abordarán estas Jornadas: evolucionismo y transformación social, la lectura kropotkoniana de Darwin, pautas cooperativas en el surgimiento del género Homo, el nuevo ciclo vital y el sistema de reproducción biocultural de Homo sapiens, e interdependencia y reciprocidad en la sociedad contemporánea.
