For the next two parts in this Mix series I want to take you on a progressive journey. A journey of melodies, rhythms, tempos, keys all united by progressive design and rich audiophonic textures. Intended either for the dancefloor during a pre-party, at a party before the main act or just before peak hours but equally suited for home listening while gaming. It took me quite a while to curate these two mixes (APEIRON & DELTA) during which I deep dived into the sounds I really loved and wanted to explore more particularly in the bpm range of 128 - 138. It also needed to align with the more melodic, tech-y sound of earlier mixes and the idea of being a pre-peak set within this larger series. This quickly made me go further and further back in time, at first to the mid 90’s from where I slowly began working my way back in time and most of the tracks are from the early to mid 2000’s, discovered through hidden Spotify playlists, Youtube videos, MixesDB2, Rave Archive (sadly down at the moment), Mixcloud, Soundcloud and of course the greatest contributor to these mixes - Discogs. Finally it became time for the recording process which was also long and exhausting as the two mixes were recorded together - continuously and after a few tries I got a result I was content with. **NOT INTENDED FOR AIRPODS OR PHONE SPEAKERS -- PROPER SPEAKERS OR STUDIO HEADPHONES RECOMMENDED*

With all that being said that left me with these two mixes, made with a lot of love and care. Major inspirations for these two mixes were Markus Schulz, Lemon8, Jonas Steur, Gabriel & Dresden, Fluke, Snutz, Chris Sedayao, Armin van Buuren, Tiësto and of course my dear friend Gabriel. For more labels and artists that were a huge influence either through their sound or directly by them being featured see the bottom of the description.

Delta Kinesis takes off exactly where Apeiron Alloiosis left off and continues the trend of slowly building up the energy, driving beats and progressive song structures but departs slightly and introduces more pure trance songs and slowly but surely departing from progressive house in favor of - as stated - more trance, breaks and a lot of tribal sounds but even more prominent this time, particularly during the end of the mix. This mix in particular features a lot more uplifting tracks especially during the middle of the mix, and brings that energy back into more progressive structures which then blends together with those tribal sounds coming back in, -and more space and ethereal sounds take over. This mix also slowly builds energy, expectation and breaks up the generally predictable nature of four-to-the-floor structures with electro and breakbeat influences. The breaks infused ethereal progressive nature creates a constantly evolving mix that should never leave you feeling dull and just prepared enough to follow along but not predictable enough to see any change ahead of time. The tracks again have release dates spanning multiple decades with the oldest being released in 1998 and the newest in 2021 but the majority of the mix this time is more spread out with most of them being released between 2000-2011.

Hardware: Pioneer XDJ-XZ & 2x CDJ-350 (DJM-350 for some) for all mixes.
No altering of the audio has been done except for adjusting the audio levels to make the mix as consistent as possible. Everything recorded live.

My day job is that I’m a Therapist. I didn’t plan it this way, but I think that has had on impact on my songwriting that I could never have foreseen. I also have ADHD and when I got an adult diagnosis and meds, it turned out I was able to stay focused enough to finish writing songs. So, after years of avoiding this, I’m putting music into the world. 

My hope is that when you listen to these songs, you have some type of emotional response, like this song could be about you too. All of these are autobiographical in once sense, but hopefully they connect to aspects of the human experience that help us feel a little less alone at least for 4 minutes at a time.

Mostly, I am trying to engage with the fact that the stories we have about the pain we endure, are perhaps more influential than the specific details themselves. From falling in love, to divorce, from my childhood to parenthood, losing friends to drama, losing friends to death. The stories we tell are the vessels we use to carry our histories. 

I hope you like the tracks. It’s been such a joy to write and record them and I’m excited and afraid to share them with you. 🙏🏼

Danish-Hungarian DJ Farkas is a Malmø-based musician. Resident & cofounder of the collective Konstant as well as resident at the club Gömstället, is a relatively new in the scene, only picking up DJ’ing in early-to-mid 2023 amidst Konstants’ first few events. But, has since then carved out his own admixture and style that adequately represents his background and musical tastes. Often being a combination of progressive genres, particularly house & trance but also breakbeat & techno with loads of dirty layers and textures, pulsing and driving beats paired with a - at times - glitchy, at other times slow and smooth,  mixing technique. DJ Farkas rarely shies away from odd-mixtures of genres and frequently ignores preconceived notions of how and what one is allowed to do (and should do) behind the decks.
