This Troparion hymn occurs during Orthodox funeral and memorial Services. The faithful pray that the soul of the departed servant of God be remembered by God, that He show mercy on them and grant them access to the kingdom of heaven.

21 - Everlasting be their Memory (Greek)

This Prokeimenon (hymn before a reading) is chanted before the Epistle, in the Orthodox funeral service. In some traditions, it is also chanted slowly as the casket is processed out of the church at the end, to the vehicle taking the casket to the grave site.

These hymns are chanted during the Orthodox Funeral service, as well as during Divine Liturgies on Saturdays. Their melodies are nearly identical to the Evlogetaria of the Resurrection, which we hear at Sunday Orthros, but their content is more penitential.

04 - First Stasis - 17th Kathisma - Funeral Service

The Trisagion Hymn occurs in the Divine Liturgy before the reading of the Epistle and Holy Gospel. The Holy Tradition of the Orthodox Church teaches that the faithful received this hymn from heaven, during a period of severe earthquakes in Constantinople.

03 - Trisagion Hymn (English)

On the first four Fridays of Lent, we chant the Service of the Salutations to the Theotokos at Small Compline. On the fifth Friday of Lent, we chant the Canon of the Akathist in its entirety.

The slow melody of the hymn "O Champion General" may be chanted after the Canon to the Theotokos, at the Akathist's beginning.
