Talking Tropes 71: Blondes have more Tropes

In deze aflevering praten de geeks met Zahra Boufadiss en Coco Fuhri Snethlage over Legally Blonde. Deze eeuwig herkijkbare comedy is een van Linda’s favoriete films dus hoog tijd om hem een keer te bespreken. Hoe realistisch is de rechtsgang in deze film eigenlijk? We vragen het aan strafrechtadvocaat Zahra. En wat maakt de film zo grappig? Wie zijn onze favoriete personages? En was de sequel nou echt nodig?

De Terugblik:

Zahra keek het belangrijke Dopesick op Disney+, een serie over hoe de superverslavende drugs Oxycontin in de markt werd gezet. Ook is ze begonnen aan het nieuwe seizoen van Narcos-spin-off Narcos Mexico (Netflix).

Coco genoot van de harde scifi in het boek The Three-Body Problem van de Chinese schrijver Liu Cixin. Daarnaast raadde ze ook de Netflix-animatieserie Arcane aan, gebaseerd op de populaire game League of Legends.

Thom ging naar Spencer: de nieuwe biopic over prinses Diana, en vond het fantastisch. Kristen Stewart verdwijnt in haar rol. Ook keek hij Sunshine uit 2007, een bloedstollende skiff-thriller met hoofdrollen voor Cillian Murphy en Chris Evans.

Linda was naar House of Gucci en vond het matig. De acteurs spreken met gekke Italiaanse accenten en het voelt een beetje alsof je drie uur lang naar Kylo Renn en Lady Gaga aan het kijken bent. Ze is ook bezig met een Spiderman-marathon en daarin viel het op dat Andrew Garfield’s Spiderman een beetje een incel is.

De Vooruitblik:

Zahra verheugt zich op het derde seizoen van Undercover (Netflix).


Coco is aan het genieten van de nieuwe Amazonserie The Wheel of Time. (Je kan horen wat Thom en Linda hier van vinden in onze laatste bonusaflevering.)


Thom wacht gespannen af voor het laatste seizoen van The Expanse (Prime) en hoopt dat ze het niet gaan Game-of-Thronesen.

LA-born singer/songwriter Sophia Marie channels her experiences of being an outsider on her new single "Venice Beach to D.C.”

Sophia says, "Venice Beach to D.C.” is an autobiographical account of my own personal relocation from Los Angeles to Washington D.C. to attend school at Georgetown University for International Politics. It’s an empowering anthem about a girl with West Coast roots trading in beach city life for Back East, a true foreigner with something to prove in this new environment across the country."

The track, which Hollywood Life calls, "pure turn-of-the-century power-pop/pop-punk goodness, with a modern attitude and classic rebellious vibe" is now streaming on DSPs.

Singer and songwriter Sophia Marie George is a Los Angeles native and junior in the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. Harboring various passions, she finds herself oscillating (sometimes rather chaotically) between many different realms: her major in International Politics, her authorship of creative works, and her love for acting in addition to her music.
