Guerillas in tha Mist is the debut studio album by American hip hop group Da Lench Mob, who originally appeared on Ice Cube's debut solo album, AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted. The titular "Guerillas in tha Mist" was a hit at the release of the album. The album was produced by Ice Cube, who is also featured throughout the album though uncredited. The album peaked at number 24 on the Billboard 200, number 4 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, and was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America on December 18, 1992, indicating US sales of over 500,000 units. The single "Freedom Got an A.K." peaked at number 7 on the Hot Rap Songs.

The album title is a pun on the popular movie title Gorillas in the Mist and guerrilla warfare. In the post-Los Angeles riot atmosphere of the album's release, the title was also perceived as a clever reference to a comment made by one of the police officers who had arrested Rodney King. Laurence Michael Powell, one of King's arresting officers, had described through radio message a domestic disturbance involving two blacks as something straight from Gorillas in the Mist. Powell's comment was considered highly racist, comparing black people to gorillas, and was used against the officer during the Rodney King trial.

This is a song about my dad, who loved to tell stories about his life and times during the war. He spent much of his time in Germany tasked with driving, for the teams that re-built damaged bridges and roads. He did a lot of bridge building with German men and women due to his grasp of their language.

What Happened To Austin ?(My Beautiful City)

Randomly surfing the local radio stations this past Saturday night, Matt Sonzala stopped on Austin's own community station KAZI 88.7 FM and heard a strong track called "What Happened to Austin?" Thankfully the DJ said the artists name - Lench - directly after the song, and Matt found him right here on Soundcloud. 

The song is a powerful indictment of what has been happening in Austin, from a real native who has strong roots in both South and East Austin. While he agrees that progress can be good, he also shakes his heads as so much of what he loved about his hometown has disappeared. 

Lench puts this situation into words like no rapper before him. The song goes deep and Matt Sonzala and Lench have a real talk about, What Happened to Austin?

Steve was born in Wilden in 1954 and musical influences started when singing in the church choir. At an early age Steve grasped the feel for creative music and the ability to "read" music.
In his teens he joined Stourport School Brass Band playing Baritone. Shortly afterwards his wide ranging influences prompted him to learn guitar, and when his involvement in popular bands evolved Steve got nominated as the Bass Player.
Steve began to write self-penned songs and up to now he has a catalogue of well over 100 original songs. His writing style is always to create something that does not fit into a niche. Although not the best singer or instrumentalist, Steve's talent lies in his songs which are quirky, unique and very listenable. 

Arriving onto the scene, and soon to the airwaves comes the young Latino sensation better known as Lench. Born and raised in Austin, Texas. One could assume this vibrant young artist, would be naturally inclined to the run of the mill southern style. However, Lench is anything but ordinary. From jump street, he made a decision to break from the norm. Opting for a genuine style, one that used heart and mind, to tell real life stories, over custom made production. At a time where so much is made of the "Penless" approach. Lench chooses to stay old school with a paper & pen, he says, " That's why they call it songwriting." The will to be different, and the gift to inspire, is what sets him apart, in whats becoming a "copycat" industry. Craig Mack brought you the new flavor, and Lench brings you and entirely new genre. Each song is entirely different from the next, captivating his listeners with real life drama, as well as entertaining them, with catchy lines and off the wall lyricism.

His debut album entitled "FIRME" is set to be released spring 2011, featuring the underground smash single, "DRANK ON".

However Lench remains true to his roots & his region. Which is evident by the name of his up and coming Indie label, BROWN SOUTH ENT. Lench hopes to become far more than just a mogul. He would much rather be seen as an activist, before an Entrepenuer/Entertainer. Real life inspires his music, as well as his efforts to change the "situations" throughout the community.

Prepare yourself for a heavy dose of reality, as well as a new, enlightening perspective on subjects every listener can relate to. There is plenty more to come, Lench has all the right qualities and traits that signify a long stay in the rap game. As well as the unmatched range and depth as an exciting young songwriter. This is only the beginning of what promises to be an epic journey of groundbreaking achievements and accolades. As the young leader of the "Brown South" is embarking on culturally altering path. Watch as he gallantly embraces the adversity he will undoubtedly encounter on his mission to overcome the negative outlook so many of his peers have adapted. In doing so, he hopes to change hearts, minds, and lives all over the world...through the power of music.
