Since releasing ‘Youthman Riddim’ Sleepy Time Ghost has been receiving the credit he deserves as one of the most exciting and versatile producers currently working in the UK bass music scene. 

As we prepare to drop his second full length 12” on Unit 137 we thought it was only appropriate to take a look back at Youthman and share some of the heaviest dubplates we’ve been running. 

Selecta J-Man and Ed West, both on remix duty of the original vocal tracks, take them on an exploration through the spectrum of Jungle music. Anyone who’s joined us in session over the past few months will know these tracks mash up any dancehall.

Here is one of the first vocals we voiced on a Shaolin Digital production, from the first ever live mixing session. Rugged and raw and full up of Dancehall lyrics and Rubadub vibe. Vocals from Gerard Lionpulse recorded inna Bristol Town at Born On Road Studio! I had sent the riddim to Gerard a couple of weeks before and he quickly got back with the chorus and first verse. Killer vibes! This riddim is a remake of the classic Major King 'Jahovia' digikiller selection.

Having appeared on remix duty on each Unit 137 release to date we thought it was time to give the incredible Sleepy Time Ghost his first full-length release. An assured roots riddim alongside the notorious Ras Demo [A.K.A Demolition Man] and Lionpulse, an up and coming sound-system from Bristol. Alongside the outstanding original we have a Dub from Joe Ariwa, head honcho at the foundational Ariwa Studio, alongside his father, Mad Professor. Hylu & Jago return with a driving Steppas remix, bringing a new energy to Lionpulse’s vocal version. The release is available on heavyweight 12” vinyl & digital.
