Rhys Coyle is a 23 year old up and coming DJ from Bolton who in a short span of time djing has secured himself a residency with Anarchy Studios, playing parties in Nottingham and Manchester supporting top talents in Europe Stef Davidse and Wooka. As well as playing a local festival in his hometown.

This week we have a true rising star on the podcast in MAXJAX.

He sent us over this note along with this killer deep / tech mix.

" I’m MAXJAX, a 14-year-old DJ and Music Producer from England and my deep/tech house music vibes have raised many eyebrows within the music industry from famous DJs and Producers worldwide.

In Lockdown, I decided to produce a beat to play alongside my guitar. I had a play around on GarageBand, and stumbled across making many different genres, including Jazz, Hip-Hop, EDM, and many more, until I found a genre that came completely natural to me… DEEP HOUSE.

Since then, I learnt ableton, which is my go-to DAW and any minute I get, I jump on ableton (or play football).

On my 11th birthday, I got some DJ equipment and ever since, I’ve played at multiple gigs, as well as receiving a residency with UNDRGRND EVENT and SUPERTEENZ

My relationship with Jovonn sparked from me posting a video of me making my track ‘‘Don’t’’ and later that evening, Jovonn got in contact with my parents, wishing to sign my track.

During my journey, I have visited defected’s HQ in shoreditch and met the likes of Jovonn, Cinthie, Rio Tashan, Stanley Hood and more! I can’t wait for what the future holds."

This week we welcome Scott Diaz to the podcast.

Dias has had his music released on some of house music’s leading labels; Armada Deep,
Defected, D-Vine Sounds, Dungeon Meat, Simma Black, Peppermint Jam, No Fuss Records,
Nervous Records, Chicago’s Large Music & more - and he’s more in demand as a remixer and
producer than ever before with his Dungeon Meat EP selling out twice and hitting the top spot
in Juno’s bestseller lists. After a 2023 full of personal upheaval it would be fair to say that he’s
now fully found his groove again, serving up several cuts on wax for the ‘Ikigai EP’, and
featuring on SPIL Records’ first VA alongside Jeremy Sylvester and Zed Bias. He’s also
delivered stellar remixes for PIV Records and legendary NY house label Sub-Urban, both of
which will be released in the second half of 2024.

In recent years he’s placed a strong focus on becoming an educator, championing the art of
sampling and club culture through his sample label NITELIFE Audio, and being an advocate
for aspiring producers by providing feedback and support and sharing his knowledge and
journey. From a press perspective, he's an interviewer's dream - always warm, thoughtful and
honest, and able to talk freely about all aspects of the music business. He appears frequently
on panels during Brighton Music Conference about a range of topics including NFT’s and
Web3, the art of collaboration and much more.

Look Busy RhythmCast 211 - Scott Diaz (Dungeon Meat / Nervous Records)

This London-based Scotsman played a crucial role in London’s esteemed SlothBoogie label for the best part of a decade. At the turn of 2024, he unveiled a new solo project, and it was here that Kenny Blacksmith was born. With time to hone his studio craftsmanship whilst digging within his extensive record collection, a new direction has been set.

He’s a dancer and clubber at heart, with an affinity for the rhythmic instrumentals often found on the B-side. Think deep dubs and acid rollers with a dancefloor focus. As a result his sets are filled with energy and depth, composed with long organic blends and at times a subtle elan. 

Working closely with friends and family, 2024 will see the release of several analogue excursions. His debut release ‘Monday’s Fish’ appeared on Natural Frequencies ‘Harmonic Frequency Vol 1’ and garnered support from Ralph Lawson, Sean Brosnan, Make A Dance, Jive Talk, Emerald to name a few.
