I did once actually spend two hours with the Velvet Underground in their dressing room as a star-struck 17 year old, having helped them hump their gear into the Top Rank, Cardiff. (We were queued up outside, having arrived two hours before everyone else.) I'd bought "The Velvet Underground and Nico" the year before and been amazed by their New York art-rock sound which was far out and yet not at all hippy plus a lead singer who sort of spoke the lyrics like the poetry they were.

A remixed version of my tribute to Lou Reed. Based on comments Lou made in interviews with references to books he read (e.g by Sylvia Plath, Hubert Selby, Leopold von Sacher-Masoch
  and Edgar Rice Boroughs. Amtor is the name given to Venus hence the 'pun' of the title

Some believe this exhilarating vision of the sleepless magical divine white light on a New York street as performed on their second album 'White Light White Heat' by the original Velvet Underground (Reed, Cale, Morrison, Tucker) is about the effects of an overdose of Crystal Methedrine. But then some listeners think the line is "she surely deludes me'. It isn't.

As it was the week of my birthday, it felt like the right time to play you my favourites, poetry new and poetry old. This show went out live on @strandedfm, and I noted the passage of time.

#15 One Fine Morning for the Birthday Boy

Hi everyone I am a Transqueen    who plays  Guitar . I  chronicle my adventure here along with a pic or two !

Originally from the Wirral (OMD land!), I now live in London. Almost all of my career was in IT, Project Management and lack of time and technology meant I never really pursued a music career. The lockdown and technology advances have meant I could teach myself and learn to compose songs. I don’t like to stick to one genre but rather try and ‘parody’ styles. Some melodies have been in my head for years and in some cases words have changed over the years. My aim is really to creat a ‘potpourri’ of sounds such that someone somewhere will enjoy something on here!!!!

I also create videos for my songs and for other artists . Same name on YouTube.

My mission is to discover and share the most intriguing music I can get my ears on. I always strive for a discerning sensibility to bring together diverse selections. From dance-floors to galleries and lounges, even yoga studios, I adapt well to immerse each space and paint the walls with just the right music for the moment. At once spacious and solid, spontaneous and cohesive, amusing and genuine.

DJ experience began on WRLC college radio ['95-'99] and continued with residencies at several eclectic venues in downtown Jersey City. While playing the bars of NYC and NJ has its charm, I also enjoy bringing music to warehouse spaces, transit plazas, backyards and community gardens, as well as forgotten corners of the forest.

From 2002-17, my humble abode was a cozy live/work space we call Railroad Studio. Serving as an audio/design lab, Railroad has been a memorable feature of city-wide events, bursting with musical performances, live painting and video projection. Our collective includes visual artist Jessie Cara [Railroad's co-creator], local indie-folk band Land of the Look Behind, projectionists Anna Almquist and Liv Arts, light sculptor Norm Francoeur, and vocalists Sirena, Carolyn Light and Bioluminescence. House concerts featured Spinning Leaves [Philly], Lost Leaders [NYC] and Las Vandelays [NJ].

In summer of 2015, we expanded to a sister space in the woodlands north of Philadelphia known as Culture Den, where we merged music, visual arts, and wellness to build community, support local entrepreneurs and foster creativity...
