2023 saw a unique video game crossover when the world of LucasArts' Monkey Island, the classic point-and-click adventure series, crossed over with Rare's shared universe in Sea of Thieves. Stalwart Rare diehard Hyle is joined by Monkey Island fanatic Dustin and Sea of Thieves expert Jeff to break down all three installments of "The Legend of Monkey Island" and determine if it was the middle ground to win us all over!

Foreigner's Quest

I studion sitter Martin, Panos, Felix, Ludvig, Theo och Johan Sällström.
Fullt hus i veckans avsnitt! Förutom att hela redaktionen är på plats har vi även fått finbesök av Felix som är på visit från Tyskland och som saknar sitt gamla gäng. Han har nyligen spelat det mysiga indiespelet A Short Hike i ett svep och berättar om sin upplevelse. Vi har dessutom en ny gäst i studion, Johan Sällström, som efter att ha tittat på Disneyvideon har sett den avskyvärda filmen Strange Magic flera gånger och nu ska redogöra för hur dålig den faktiskt är. Dessutom bjuder vi på nyheter om den moldaviska melodifestivalen och lite nytt från spelmarknaden och avslutar med en recension av den nya Mission Impossible-filmen.

Det blir mycket sci-fi i veckans avsnitt. Simon och Emil är tillbaka och bjuder på deras favoritämnen: böcker och Marvel. Simon har läst Starcraft-boken Liberty’s Crusade och redaktionen tar tillfället i akt att vara riktigt nostalgiska över Starcraft. Dessutom har Simon också konsumerat streamingaktuella Mickey 17, som han recenserar tillsammans med Ludvig. Dessutom har Martin dykt ner i mediafenomenet Sam & Max, främst genom de gamla peka-klicka spelen från Lucasarts och Telltale, och tillsammans med Simon bjuder han på lite historia om två riktigt folkkära karaktärer från förr. Slutligen har Emil och Martin båda kollat på Marvel-serien Ironheart, och det blir ett lagom hetsigt bråk. Dramatisk vecka i Medis Radio, helt enkelt.

Alessandro Garino is a Montreal-based composer, pianist, and educator whose music bridges classical lyricism, jazz rhythmic sensibility, and modern sound design. Eclectic and versatile, he creates original scores for film, video games, and contemporary performance, crafting immersive and evocative sound worlds for both linear and interactive media.

His work ranges from intimate acoustic atmospheres to powerful hybrid orchestrations, from minimalist ambient textures to full orchestral writing. As a composer and music designer, he has collaborated with studios ranging from indie developers such as Thunder Lotus Games to AAA productions like Riot Games. His film scores have been featured in numerous international film festivals, with several projects earning awards.

Before turning to media composition, Alessandro built a fifteen-year career as a performer, composer, and arranger across the jazz, world music, and experimental scenes. He holds a Ph.D. in Musicology and Composition from the Université de Montréal, where he also teaches film scoring and game audio design, mentoring the next generation of composers.
