The discomfort is triggered by the person's belief clashing with new information perceived, wherein the individual tries to find a way to resolve the contradiction to reduce their discomfort.

They exhibit little interest in genuine discourse, viewing it merely as a pretext to dismiss any challenges to their worldview. 

It is essential to detach your personal moral framework from the situation. Avoid imposing your standards, as an absolute narcissist will invariably twist them to portray you as in the wrong. The fundamental moral issue at hand is universal: no one can transcend reality. This reality, which absolute narcissists disregard, ultimately prevails over them, regardless of their insistence on controlling it. There is no necessity for self-defense; absolute narcissists will attempt to entrap you in your own moral uncertainties by feigning concern for ethical standards that they do not genuinely uphold. They operate on flawed reasoning, asserting that any imperfection in you serves to validate their own perceived infallibility. Their loud proclamations of moral superiority drown out their own hypocrisy. Resist the temptation to be ensnared; embrace your human imperfections and expose their pretense of superiority.
