La cosa interessante è che, quando la prima bolla edilizia attorno a Dallas scoppiò, un giovane Lewis Ranier dei Salomon Brothers comprò i debiti che stano per fallire a pochi centesimi sul dollaro e li raggruppò con almeno uno che aveva la speranza di salvarsi e di avere la garanzia statale.. creando così le mitici "mortgage backed securities", che si espansero da un giro di 200M a fine anni 80 fino a 4T nel 2007..
