Casa Árabe organiza esta mesa redonda con los comisarios José Miguel Santacreu y Juan Valbuena, en torno a la exposición "Del éxodo y del viento: exilio español en el Magreb (1939-1962)".

El objetivo de la exposición es ofrecer un recorrido histórico y emocional sobre el exilio español en el norte de África.  Unos 13.000 españoles llegaron al norte de África en el mes de marzo de 1939, al final de la Guerra Civil. Sin embargo, en 1945 se estima que sólo quedaban unas 8.000 personas en el Magreb tras el retorno a España de la mitad de los llegados a Túnez, los alistamientos con las fuerzas aliadas, los llevados a la URSS, los embarcados a América y los muertos en los campos de concentración.

Al final de los procesos de independencia en el Magreb, en 1962, se calcula que tan solo unos 2.000 exiliados permanecieron en Túnez, Argelia y Marruecos. ¿Qué fue lo que pasó con estos ciudadanos españoles, a caballo entre Europa, África y América, entre el exilio, la vida y la muerte? ¿Cómo trazar sus distintos recorridos y recobrar el rastro de sus tragedias? La exposición, "Del éxodo y del viento: exilio español en el Magreb (1939-1962)”, iniciativa de Casa Árabe y del Ministerio de Política Territorial y Memoria Democrática, presenta la oportunidad de recuperar la memoria, profundizar y difundir el conocimiento sobre uno de los exilios más desconocidos, el de los republicanos españoles en el Magreb.

La muestra cuenta con la participación de José Miguel Santacreu Soler (Universidad de Alicante) como comisario científico y de Juan Valbuena como comisario visual, apoyados en un comité asesor de especialistas formado por Bernabé López García, Daniel Moñino Reyes, Eliane Ortega Bernabeu y Rafael Sebastiá Alcaraz.
