Inspired by Morcheeba, Tricky, and Massive Attacj, I wrote Sakt, a song about mental health. Essentially it's a conversation between me and my own mental illness, with salt being a reference to tears.

"It's low tide, the salt is done" - there's no more tears over things I cannot control.

This is one of my favourite lines from this song:
"I'm open to karma but warrior armour keeps shelter for those still in need"

I chose not to have lyrics in the chorus. It needed something serene so instead I chose to hum as a nod to meditation.

I also did a charity skydive and raised money for Mind the year this was originally released. Yes, there is proof and noooo I did not scream like a big girl's blouse.

Salt

I’ve been a victim of my own overthinking. This album is my remedy for the struggles I once created for myself.

It’s a step into the unknown — free of judgment, assumptions, doubts, and all the imagined antagonists. I just want this music to exist here.

A blend of trip-hop, downtempo, and house, inspired by the textures of Bonobo, Maribou State, and Khruangbin.

KENNEDY is a British trip hop artist merging downtempo electronica and acid jazz. But you won’t find her on The Beat Room or cruising through Swinging London in beatniks. You’ll find her in a makeshift box room studio soaking up cinematic soundscapes and the styling of Jean Shrimpton and Twiggy.

Turntable scratching, somber undertones, paid tribute by dulcet, chanteuse vocals, and slowed break-beat drums, sit crisp under the old jazz club haze of ’68. Merry Clayton echoes through the juxtaposition of saccharine melodies and electronica bathed in shadows.

A modern day Femme Fatale with the late night smokiness and John Barry film noir of Portishead. Lit cigarettes, mascara soaked tears and feigned sexual gratification soundtracking an audience of solitary wanderers.
