A man who it seems like has been everywhere, revitalising several franchises like Mission Impossible, Star Trek and Star Wars as well creating several immensely popular TV series. With a rich body of work that's much discussed, we'll be taking a look at how his career has thrived to date as well as the strange standing he seems to have amongst the fans of the franchises he's best-known for working on. This is one mystery box of an episode. See what I did there? Yeah, I know, it wasn't very good.

Before we end the year, we discuss about how close we were on the winners for The Game Awards 2023, we also started talking about The Boys comic book hard cover & Spawn that Mike brought to show on the episode, then we went on a rabbit hole with discussing what type of collection we want that it lead with wanting to see more Matt Reeves The Batman, I also mentioned Godzilla Minus One spoiler free review and also how Twitch dumb new policy allowing woman to be topless on streaming as long it's a artistic view....yeah I couldn't believe it either but it's slowing becoming the lewd version of OnlyFans...I said it!!! A Wolv in Geek's Clothing Show

AWGC Ep11 Game Awards 2023, Godzilla Minus One Review, Twitch the new OF & more! Ft @MikePhoenixHERO

This week, as Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes hits theatres, we prepare for war by finally watching Matt Reeves' capper to the trilogy that preceded it -- 2017's War for the Planet of the Apes, written and directed by Reeves, and starring Andy Serkis, Woody Harrelson, Steve Zahn, Amiah Miller, Karin Konoval, Judy Greer and Toby Kebbel. It's a movie pulling heavily from a number of great war films of the past, notably The Great Escape and Apocalypse Now, with a pair of terrific lead performances and a number of outstanding action sequences. Our discussion really spans the entire trilogy however, as both hosts watched all three films before sitting down for this one, in between colouring books and Big Brother Canada.

The entire trilogy (really every movie in the franchise save for the one that just dropped today) is now streaming on Disney+, if you'd like to watch the films before hearing us chat about them. And I assure you they are really worth the time.

Other works discussed in this episode include of course Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, but also: Men, Alex Garland in general, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, King Kong (2005), The Batman, Andor and Venom 2: There Will Be Carnage.

Schaffner en vier vervolgfilms kreeg (Beneath, Escape, Conquest en Battle), de remake van Tim Burton uit 2001 en de huidige serie films (Rise, Dawn, War en Kingdom).

71. De Planet of the Apes-serie

Somehow, Mike & Matt have returned to Gotham because DC decided to make the first new Batman cartoon in over a decade. 

They discuss the tone of the show, the big creative swings, the villains, Batman himself, the possible future of the series and of course the career of John Vernon.

The Tape Crusaders - Episode 20: Batman: Caped Crusader

Folks have a fear and fascination with bloodsuckers like Count Dracula and Akasha, the ancient vampire Queen of the Damned and others, so, to celebrate Halloween I’m bringing in vampire expert Prof. Stanley Stepanic of The University of Virginia to, not exactly shed some light one the subject, because, according to lore, that might make the vampires burst into flames, but to give us a lively history of the undead.
 
To date he has published three textbooks that have been released in recent editions - these are "Dracula or the Timeless Path of the Vampire," "Russian and East European Film", and "Russian Folklore". His latest book, a novella titled “A Vamp There Was,” is set in 1920s Virginia, and looks at the vamp archetype… that of a desirable woman who manipulates men. A young man from Virginia investigates the secrets of her past and the devastating effect on the men who fall for her. 
 
Professor Stepanic teaches a popular class on Dracula at The University of Virginia which covers the history of the vampire from pre-Christian Slavic belief to the present and often appears on lists of students’ favorite University courses.

Then, at the end of the show I share a taste of an interview I did with director Matt Reeves. He’s directed movies like “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” “War for the Planet of the Apes” and “The Batman” with Robert Pattinson, but here we talk about his unique vampire film “Let Me In.” It’s a remake of a Swedish film, but unlike so many remakes, this story of a bullied young boy who befriends a young female vampire who lives in secrecy with her guardian, really works and is perfect Halloween viewing.
