Legendary drummer Max Roach's birthday was January 10th, and he would have been 99 yesterday. I decided to pull my small stack of Roach-led records and play a few selections in tribute to one of the greatest to do it. When I took a look on Discogs to see how many records he played on over the decades, it's almost endless - somewhere between 1500 and 2000, starting in the 1940s with Charlie Parker. Salute!

Happy heavenly 101st birthday to pianist Bud Powell (9/27/24), a very influential musician who helped create the modern piano style and is at the root of most players who have followed him.....
