Vic Spencer. Ugh...

It's almost time for the world to witness two of the most prolific MCs from Chicago shake a planet (as Vic would say) with a EP entitled VicTree (Victory), which drops Tuesday 6/30. This Weed & Clothes should be able to hold us off, but when I spoke to Vic he told me that he's been holding this record for 3 years.

"Yeah, we recorded that at Tree crib 3 years ago in his living room", Vic says as he reflected on how him and Tree started recording together. "Tree always wants to record-he's one of the most hard working guys I know. Tree chooses the artist that he likes to do projects with and thats what VicTree is. Vic Spencer on a visit to soultrapville. It's so different than anything that I've dropped. But I remained myself the entire visit."

Weed & Clothes is the beginning of a classic project. We will leave it at that.

We're finishing 2017 with a bang! Beat Spectrum are really proud to present the 'Perpetual Motion EP' by Fizik & SkOpus, featuring MC Tree on the vocals.

Based in New Zealand, these guys have been heavily involved in the Wellington bass music scene for a number of years, supporting all the major players and developing their sound. They've really managed to nail those snappy, techy snares and intelligent basslines that are proving to be extremely popular at the moment. This EP is definitely one for the heads.

Over the past 20 years, Vic Spencer has become one of the most respected figures in underground hip-hop culture as a whole. The Chicago MC keeps his name in the hip-hop headlines with a constant stream of albums, he definitely has dropped 4 to 5 albums a year for the past 5 years and loose tracks whose titles often effectively sum up the snarky, acutely self-aware attitude of his lyrics. Though his reputation has grown thanks in part to his collaborations with the late Sean Price (RuckDown), Flee Lord (LORDMOBB), 38 Spesh (TRUST), and acclaimed "soultrap" rapper/producer Tree, Spencer is a proud free agent with his own label (Old Fart Luggage) who vocally dismisses the noise surrounding his city’s hip-hop landscape and stays committed to—even obsessed with—forging his own path. Vic Spencer is best known for his work with Big Ghost (The Ghost of Living) and his solo album, The Cost of Victory which dropped in 2015 and was rank 19 out of 40 in the Rolling Stone’s top 40 albums of that year.
