this cover is a part of a cd i made for one of my best friends, who i just came back home from helping them move ten hours away from me. we've been friends since the the 7th grade, so them leaving is a lot for me and our friends, but i love them so much that i will of course always support them. if life takes them in all sorts of directions then i will be happy for them.

the cd was intended to contain fully completed versions of each song on there, including an original song i wrote for them, but i struggled with sitting down and actually concentrating on writing the lyrics. i hope i can finish it one day.

this is the first track on the cd. our friend group is REALLY into the persona franchise and we all got majorly sucked into persona 5 royal, and we love the soundtrack as well. this probably isn't my friend's favorite song from the game, as their favorite is probably from some time later in the game and I haven't gotten to it, but it's one of our favorites nonetheless. and i think it's a song the both of us can relate to. 

i think we can both relate to this song in sometimes feeling as though we have a lack of a sense of self. sometimes i feel like i try to bend myself around how i think people want me to be because i'm afraid that if they see the real me, they won't like it. i've settled for feeling like i belong being something i'm not over feeling like i belong being myself. i think a lot of us can relate to giving up our real self for, like, some kind of acceptance mirage haha.

the cd also has a semi-unplugged faux live-performance style cover of simple and clean by hikaru utada, featuring solaria, mai, qingsu, hanakuma chifuyu, and ryo, that soundcloud thinks sounds way too similar to the original, so i'll have to figure out a way to upload that somewhere soon.
