Lantern Kin is a real-world Appalachian folk collective known for blending mythic storytelling, ambient textures, and psychedelic soul into a hauntingly original sound.

Formed in the misty foothills of southern Appalachia, Lantern Kin is a five-piece ensemble—three men and two women—whose music channels the region’s deep-rooted folklore through surreal lyrics, acoustic instrumentation, and ritualistic harmonies. Their sound fuses fingerpicked guitar, bowed strings, steel and slide guitar, conga drums, and ambient textures, often opening with slow-burning chants that evoke ancestral memory and dreamlike states. Drawing inspiration from Cherokee legends, nursery rhymes, and ghost stories, the band crafts ballads that feel both ancient and otherworldly—songs like “Ash & Antler,” “Jesica’s Dreams,” and “The Witching Hour” explore themes of courage, transformation, and the veil between worlds.

Lantern Kin’s live performances are immersive and ceremonial, often staged in forest clearings, candlelit barns, or moss-covered ruins, with visuals that include lanterns, bones, driftwood, and Appalachian textiles. Their dual lead vocals—one male, one female—are supported by layered backup singers who echo like spirits in the trees.
