Castrum is a Ukrainian black metal and death metal band formed in 1994 in Uzhgorod. The band is one of the first extreme metal bands in Ukraine and played a significant role in the development of the country's underground scene. Their work combines the dark atmosphere of black metal with the technical aggression of death metal, creating a unique sound.The band has released several albums, the most famous of which are Hatenourisher (1999) and MediEvaluation (2000). Their music is characterized by fast riffs, dark melodies and deep growls, while the lyrics touch on themes of medieval history, philosophy and mysticism.
Over the years, Castrum has performed at various festivals and concerts, sharing the stage with such famous bands as Vader, Behemoth and Cannibal Corpse. Despite the changes in the line-up, the band continues its activities, remaining true to the traditions of old-school death metal and black metal.
