We used a CARVIN 24 channel analog board, to our 1st solo 8 track ADAT Digital Recorder onto  SUPER VHS tapes!  It was the recording we invented the ADOBE TUBE that gave GROOVY STUDIO  it's unique deep & warm natural sound...we have 100's of priceless multitrack master tapes from over 20 years of live & studio recordings, all previously unreleased, & from some of the most amazing & eclectic artists imaginable.... Do You Know Who You Are - MOBIUS TRIP

The company’s origins are the stuff of legend. A scrappy band of Santa Fe artists with a penchant for building fantastical installations from mounds of trash each write down random words on slips of paper. They draw two from a hat, thus christening themselves Meow Wolf. That was 15 years ago.

This weekend marks the opening of the fourth permanent Meow Wolf exhibition, located at the Grapevine Mills shopping mall outside Dallas, Texas. Featuring a story conceived by Wisconsin sci-fi and fantasy author LaShawn Wanak, and work by 30 Texas artists who collaborated with in the in-house artist team, "The Real Unreal," as the exhibition is titled, transforms a former Bed Bath and Beyond into an expansive art playground.

Like the House of Eternal Return, Meow Wolf’s first permanent location, the new exhibition appears to begin in the real world, in an ordinary suburban house—but the mundane trappings of family life quickly give way to the strange and unfamiliar, the boundaries between reality and fantasy blurring and disappearing.

Since the 2016 opening in Santa Fe, Meow Wolf has amassed a devoted following for its interactive, immersive exhibitions, which use art to open portals into unknown realms. Obsessive fans have taken to Reddit to unravel all the secrets of the Meow Wolf universe. The Real Unreal is the company’s first step in tying together the disparate sites and their inter-dimensional narratives in a more readily apparent way.

And while you still may not have heard of Meow Wolf, the company is poised for even more explosive growth. Under the guidance of CEO Jose Tolosa, who came over from Viacom in 2022, the punk art collective-turned art and entertainment production company has plans to bring its spectacular artistic vision to a city near you, and to create new ways for you to engage with its unique, otherworldly storyline from the comfort of your own home. What started out as a crazy art funhouse, fueled by maker culture, has struck upon a business model that is primed to become an entertainment juggernaut.

Ahead of the public opening in Grapevine, Artnet News senior writer Sarah Cascone spoke with Tolosa not only about the company’s epic, world-building ambitions, but about staying true to its roots. It’s fun to reminisce with friends about past horrors, right? Well, this one is a bit more literal as the first thing Royale w/ Cheese wanted to talk about was Halloween Ends and that’s a past horror to me for all the wrong reasons. No, the name of the day is JASON EGAN and we’re talking his IP based escape rooms offered off the strip in Las Vegas, NV. We first did The BLAIR WITCH, then we did SAW, and finished it with IT chapters 1 and 2. All were amazing. All were gush-able. But the crown jewel rests in Area 15 - let’s talk MEOW WOLF. Maybe not. I was honored to share the lineup with visionary artists and thinkers including Reggie Watts, LP Giobbi, David Satori, Bloomurian, Duncan Trussell, and Zach Leary — all gathered to mark 82 years since Albert Hofmann’s legendary bicycle ride and the birth of LSD.

This is my offering: a hypnotic dancefloor journey through tribal rhythms, organic melodies, disco beats, and 303 acid basslines — a psychedelic set to make your booties move and your spirit groove.

As a former war correspondent turned sound alchemist, music and plant teachers have been my medicine — helping me transmute trauma and reconnect with joy.

This set is a celebration… a thank you… and a portal to something deeper.

Just days before Summer Solstice, Liquid Bloom performed a powerful set inside Meow Wolf Denver’s Numina exhibit as part of a sold-out PORTAL event during the Psychedelic Science conference. This unique night brought together a global web of psychonauts, artists, and seekers inside the surreal dreamscape of Convergence Station.

Following a rare and beautiful DJ set from East Forest, Liquid Bloom guided a journey from ambient and downtempo into bass, drum & bass, and tribal midtempo—culminating in a high-energy blend of house rhythms and ecstatic movement. A live surprise from Poranguí added soul-stirring vocals to the mix, and a closing invocation from Ram Dass gently brought the spaceship back to Earth.
