Jim Smith is a Texas rapper, he is heavily influenced by rap acts such as Tupac Shakur, Scarface, and South Park Mexican.

Much of his style derives from a deep rooted southern style in English and Spanish lyrics. Smith’s most notable topics are of his ups and downs as a Latino male growing up in a single parent home.

Smith’s fan base often credits him for being able to paint vivid pictures through the art of story telling. The Dallas Observer wrote an article titled "Pearlbase Records Builds a Home For Hispanic Hip Hop in Dallas" which Jim Smith And Dasugarman were interviewed for. Smith's most requested song on Dallas KNON FM radio station is "Hey Girl" from the 80s Baby Album.

Jim Smith is currently working on his own independent label aside from PearlBase to build Corastone Records.
