I have recorded this using native patches from Yamaha EZ TP (patch 15 - Soprano Sax - if I remember well)playing some of the famous tarogato player Dumitru Farcas folklore themes from Maramures and Mures county of Romania.

Homemade Virtual Instruments: Sampled Soprano and Tenor Recorders. I assembled the wave samples into virtual instruments in Thumbjam and performed the piece in Thumbjam, using a MIDI wind controller, the Akai EWI USB. The melody (Winter wie ist nu dein Kraft) is from the early 13th century German minnesinger, Neidhart von Reuenthal. The counterpoint is my own attempt.

Nachtanz to basse danse, Woher kommt’s, from Tielman Susato’s Danserye of 1551. These 43 seconds of music represents weeks of work. I built soprano, alto, tenor, and bass virtual recorders in software by sampling 6-7 notes for each. Playing the four parts separately on a wind controller and overdubbing took only hours.

Testing my Behringer Neutron on this jump-blues improvisation. The synth backing was played in paraphonic mode in one take, and the lead was played on a Casio DH-100 Digital Horn controlling the Neutron via MIDI. Drums were programmed in Hydrogen, and the bass guitar is real.

I played this minuet by Jean-Baptiste Anet on a MIDI wind controller and overdubbed the two parts. The patch is my attempt to synthesize a flute sound from scratch on the Sunrizer synth.

I'm a self-taught multi-instrumentalist living in London, England. My main instruments are keyboards, bass guitar and double bass, but I also play electric and acoustic guitars, ukulele, 6-string banjo and chromatic harmonica, and I will have a go at anything else that makes a noise.

My musical roots are in the Blues, but my recordings range in style from country to punk to experimental, with bits of funk, jazz and retro movie soundtrack thrown in. And hopefully a bit of humour...

I am an amateur musician with a particular interest in performing or otherwise producing Renaissance music by electronic means. In my posted tracks, I have used acoustic instruments (recorders), an electronic wind controller (Akai EWI USB), and step-time sequencing, in various combinations. Many of my tracks were produced in the late 1980’s with the Yamaha CX5M music computer, but they were never published in any form until 2011.

The origins of the name Palmas Jazz is from when I moved to the Brazilian city of Palmas which is in the state of Tocantins. Palmas Jazz was created as a YouTube channel for live concerts in and around Tocantins and to showcase some recordings of both my own compositions and other peoples music as well.

My musical background is mainly Classical and Jazz. I started playing Recorder when I was about five, soon after I took up Flute and commenced classical studies. When I was in my teens I bought my first Sax, a Selmer MK6 Soprano, not the best Soprano in the world but incentive enough to get me interested in Jazz and the great musicians of the time, many of whom are still as creative today as when I started to discover them all those years ago. I experimented with a variety of instruments including Violin, Clarinet and Accordion. Later I learnt Piano which was an instrument which I had always wanted to learn and these days knowledge of Keyboards or other MIDI Controllers is essential to exploit the amazing world of Virtual Instruments Technology. I principally play Woodwinds, Saxes, Flutes, Wind Synthesizers, MIDI Controllers and Piano. Jazz is without a doubt the music which I enjoy playing the most, however I consider it a challenge to be able to play any musical genre. 

Audio Sculpturing.

This is the terminology I use for composing and creating music using Virtual Technology. The advances in Sampling and Virtual Instruments today allow the modern musician to compose and play music that was previously inconceivable. When I works with VST instruments harmony and melody are not my only concern, one has to learn to combine various sounds or instruments and for me this is a form of painting or sculpturing, just as the artist works with colours and tones in the world of VST we work to the same effect. I am particularly fascinated by combining traditional acoustic instruments with Virtual Instruments and musicians these days have an enormous variety of options available. Today we can create a full symphonic compositions by simply using a keyboard and a computer.
