You Wave Your Shovel Like A Flag

A visit to the excellent Korg exhibit at the Musical Museum in Brentford gave birth to Korgin. A whole room dedicated to Korg synths, including one built into the wall that was used to teach Japanese school kids how synthesisers work, an all chrome Prologue that looked like it must have belonged to Daft Punk (but probably wasn't) and of course classics like the MS-20.

At one end of the room there were a bunch of hands on demo units including the Volca range, a MicroKorg and a Minilogue. After checking with the curator I plugged in my laptop and had a play around with as many as possible, recording the random outputs of preset pattens and jams, with plenty of knob twiddling on top.

When I got home, I listened back to it all, discarded half of it and chopped the rest up into what became Korgin. Everything in the track comes from that session at the museum apart from the 707 kick.

Originally written in 2019, I decided to reinvigorate this track with a relevant-to-London sample & change the basslines to be something punchier. Currently, I am obsessed with 133BPM, as I am finding it to be the perfect moveyourbodyspeed.

Sonic Telepath, Revisited (Rough Draft)

Maximalist singer & composer diving into darkwave and techno with vocal harmonies and lots of reverb.
I prefer the ridiculously undefinable term “rainbowgoth” for my music.

With parents who really loved the music in the 70’s / 80’s it wasn’t really complicated for Joel to fall in love with the music genres of these periods. As a kid for him it was a bunch of years to search and discover through the gigantic records collection some of the most fantastic and rare masterpiece of these decades. Nowadays these memories bring back a new kind of creation for him.
Music lover, DJ, producer Joel is active in the electronic music genre for more than 15 years.
All has begun with The Badgers back in 2002 with two second hand Technics turntables. He was party manager of big electronic music festivals in the east of France and after that he started to produce some dark techno / minimal tracks with his best friend as The Badgers.
After numerous music productions during more than 10 years in the dark techno / minimal branch with the Badgers (Creepy Finger Rec, Plankton Repellent, Momentum League, Killing Machine Rec. and many more) Joel decides to make a solo project to explore the another creative side of his personality, deeper and funkier.
“Nasty Preacher” is the new born of this choice.
“Nasty” was how some people portrayed the music his influences. “Preacher” is a nod to James Brown.
There is only one objective, to create a good workout for your hips…
