Je reçois Dr Ziad Nasreddine, neurologue de renom, créateur du MoCA (Montreal Cognitive Assessment) et ancien président de l’Association des jeunes médecins du Québec (AJMQ). Ensemble, nous plongeons dans son parcours professionnel et les raisons de son choix de carrière. Ziad m’explique la genèse du MoCA, qui a révolutionné la prise en charge et l’évaluation des troubles cognitifs, en permettant notamment de raccourcir la durée de l’évaluation et de détecter plus précocement la démence.
Nous abordons également son implication dans l'AJMQ à la fin des années ’90. Cette organisation avait d’abord été créée, à l’époque, en raison d’un changement discriminatoire au niveau de la rémunération des nouveaux médecins spécialistes. La FJMQ avait ainsi entamé un processus judiciaire contre la Fédération des Médecins Spécialistes du Québec (FMSQ). Le dépôt récent du projet de loi 83, qui vise à empêcher les nouveaux médecins d’œuvrer dans le réseau privé, m’a rappelé l’épisode de l’AJMQ et c’est dans cette optique que je voulais également recevoir Ziad. Dr Nasreddine partage ses réflexions sur les défis et les opportunités qui se présentent aux jeunes médecins au Québec, tout en nous éclairant sur cet épisode de notre histoire médicale. 
Un échange fascinant sur la neurologie, la médecine, et l’avenir de la profession au Québec, avec une touche de vision personnelle et d'engagement.
