Pink Moon Static

A rewritten version of "Moon Music" by Coldplay — created for my Grandad’s funeral.

I used to play this piece on the piano, and he’d often say, “What’s that? I like that.”

After his passing, I reworked the song into something personal — a reflection on life, death, and the love that continues after we’re gone.

Thank you to Coldplay for the beautiful original. This version features new lyrics, piano and vocals written and recorded by me, Jack Watkins, as a tribute to the man who meant the world to us.

How did we achieve this, you ask? Simple! As a result of throwing billions of dollars down the toilet, we were able to give our musical producer an hour off, on the moon. After this hour off, Aperture Psychoacoustics began to produce bleeding-edge Moon Music (bleeding edge if you consider the moon is stuck in 1984). Jack Watkins is a British songwriter, producer and performer. His debut album, Wonderland, was released in 2024, and takes listeners on a colourful musical journey through love, loss and self-discovery.

Rich with beautiful melodies and poignant lyrics, Jack uses music to make sense of his own joyful, painful and complex life experiences. Moving effortlessly between upbeat dance tracks and stripped back, haunting ballads, his fusion of acoustic instruments, electronic synths and soulful vocals builds an immersive world of sophisticated, catchy pop music.

Wonderland peaked at number 8 in the UK iTunes Pop Chart, and was supported by regional and national radio play. Experimental digital artist, composer, and sound designer, exploring my mind through sight and sound. I use Bitwig Studio as my DAW. As for synths, I pretty much solely use UVI Falcon and Omnisphere. I also use Infiltrator 2 a lot. It's my favorite multi-fx plugin.
