Pounces is a Caribbean-born Denver-based DJ/Producer and 1/3 of the Haus Catz crew. His new solo EP titled 'Morphing' on YUNG DUMB comes equipped with 4 tracks of house tinged breaks and floor-ready bass oddities, touting vocal chops, clubby percussion and wobbly synths that borrow from all corners of the dance music realm. While diverse inspiration is clear, 'Morphing' maintains an anomalous and unique originality the whole way through.

The samples are captured from a single collection from the 1950ies an 60ies, donated to me by Lars Hellström, thanks Lars.

My vision is to democratize electronic music. Many electronic instruments have the ability to be programmed harmonically and rhythmically that it gets easy for everybody to improvise without technical or instrumental knowledge.

POETRY IS VITAL

This threshold space exists for those who feel like listening to some of my quite professional poetry embedded in rather amateurishly recorded but judiciously arranged sound, a modicum of purely acoustic work notwithstanding. SOUND, SPACE AND TIME

Tend your listening senses gently. Even though my general approach welcomes and embraces lo-fi concepts like the precision of spontaneously occuring imprecisions, headphones worth their membranes are recommended - unless you like your sounds flat, mangled, battered and helpless. You don't, do you? Be kind to these soundscapes.

STRUCTURING IMPULSE

Due to the nature of "poetry soundscapes", your listening expectations regarding traditionally structured "songs", sonically purified "raw wildlife soundscapes", keyboard-laden "ambient recordings" or voice-centered "readings" might not be met. You will find some of those in my list of /likes/. "Noise" is a recurring structural element like any other. This is what this sounds like - within its own rights, limitations, tangents and interconnections. Sonic structures. Silent stretches. Poetry emerges from the gaps between the ruts, seeps in from the undergrowth, sweeps down.

Above, there is a tiny poem of mine that I do not understand how to translate into sound. If you do - please act on it. Explorer of psychedelic soundscapes with evolving textures, experimental sound design, and intricate rhythmic sections.

Keaton Chalifoux, a long time rock musician, first became fascinated with the world of electronic music production after finding inspiration from artists such as Radiohead and Massive Attack.
As the limits of simply being a drummer became less and less satisfying, he began experimenting with virtual instruments and sound design. This progressed into a passionate love for electronic music production as he became more and more infatuated with artists such as Aphex Twin.

With a fusion of ambient sounds and analog synths built upon 
a foundation of complex rhythms, he created Cloudlvl, his first fully electronic musical venture.
