あの夜のこと、今でも鮮明に覚えてる。冷たい風が頬に触れて、街の灯りが少しずつ消えていくのを見ながら、何も言わずにただ歩いてたんだ。足音だけが響いて、振り返ることなく進んでいく。正直、ちょっと怖かった。でも、どうしてか涙は流れなかったんだよね。むしろ「これで良かったんだ」って心のどこかで思ってた。過去にしがみつくのをやめて、前に進むと決めた瞬間だったんだと思う。

すれ違う人たち、手を離して歩く自分、時間が砂のように手のひらからこぼれ落ちていく感じがしてた。見慣れた景色が少しずつ遠ざかって、知らない場所に向かってるのに、なんだか不思議と安心感もあった。「もう戻れないけど、このまま進んでいいんだ」って。迷いながらも、自分の足で新しい道を踏みしめる感覚。それが、今の自分に繋がってるんだと思う。

「さよなら街の灯」って言葉が胸に深く響いた瞬間。過去に対してさよならを言うのは寂しいけど、それ以上に未来に向かって進んでいく力強さを感じたんだ。星が見えない夜でも、心の中には光があって、前に進む勇気をくれる。広がる世界の中で、自分の居場所を見つけていく。それって簡単なことじゃないけど、いつか振り返ったときに「これで良かったんだ」って思える日が来るって信じてるんだ。

新しい街、新しい景色、全部がまだ知らないものばかり。でも、その中で自分自身も少しずつ変わっていくんだろうな。過去は決して忘れないけど、それに囚われることなく感謝しながら前に進む。振り返るとたくさんの思い出があるけど、それらが私を支えてくれてる気がする。これからも、そんな思い出を胸に抱きしめながら歩いていこうと思うんだ。

I still remember that night so clearly. The cold wind brushed against my cheek, and as the city lights gradually faded, I just kept walking in silence. The sound of my footsteps echoed, and I moved forward without looking back. Honestly, I was a little scared. But for some reason, no tears came. Instead, deep down, I knew, "This is how it should be." It was the moment I decided to stop clinging to the past and move forward.

People passed by, I let go of the hands that had held mine, and time felt like it was slipping through my fingers like sand. The familiar scenery gradually faded away, and even though I was heading toward an unknown place, there was an odd sense of comfort. "I can't go back, but it's okay to keep moving forward." Even though I was lost, I could feel my feet firmly stepping onto a new path. That’s what connects me to who I am now.

The words "goodbye, city lights" echoed deeply in my heart. Saying goodbye to the past is bittersweet, but more than anything, I felt empowered to keep moving toward the future. Even on nights when I can’t see the stars, there’s a light within me that gives me the courage to take the next step. In this vast world, I’ll find my place. It’s not an easy journey, but I believe there will come a day when I look back and think, "This was the right choice."

A new city, new sights—all of it is still unfamiliar. But as I walk through this, I’m sure I’ll change little by little too. I’ll never forget the past, but I’ll move forward, grateful for everything that’s brought me here. When I look back, I see so many memories, and it feels like they’re holding me up. So, I’ll keep walking, holding those memories close, and stepping into whatever comes next.

I’m Dean R. Chandler — a London based songwriter, recording artist, and storyteller. My music is rooted in a lifelong search for meaning, weaving together themes of love, loss, faith, alien contact, and humanity’s future.

My upcoming double concept album Human Odyssey (set for release in January 2027) is the culmination of decades of writing and reflection. It’s a narrative journey that begins with a search for God and ends with an encounter with extraterrestrial intelligence — exploring not only what it means to be human, but also where we might be heading as a species. Musically, it draws inspiration from the epic storytelling of Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds, the synth-driven edge of Gary Numan, and the emotional depth of artists like Tori Amos and Chris de Burgh.

I previously released Time Machine – Reflecting Shattered Dreams (2014) and continue to revisit my archive of songs written across 35 years, reimagining them with today’s tools and sounds. Some pieces remain intimate and acoustic, while others expand into dark rock, industrial, or orchestral landscapes — but all are connected by a focus on emotional honesty and cinematic storytelling.

Beyond music, I’m fascinated by the intersection of creativity and technology. I’ve been experimenting with AI-driven composition and production to bring old demos to life and to spark entirely new works.
