The viral era once felt unstoppable. Artists built careers on 15-second sound bites. Labels chased trends instead of vision. Fans discovered new music through endless loops of dances, memes, and sped-up edits. For a moment, it looked like the future of music would be completely dictated by TikTok’s algorithm.

Why Artists Are Rejecting TikTok Trends

The music industry has entered a new era—one where albums are no longer defined solely by sound. In 2025, the most successful and culturally resonant projects are built as visual worlds. Artists are using cinematic storytelling, film-inspired aesthetics, high-concept imagery, and immersive multimedia design to transform their albums into full sensory universes. Music is not just something to listen to anymore. It’s something to watch, feel, absorb, and step into.

The Album Visual Era

Pop music in 2025 feels quieter. Softer. More exposed. After years of hyper-produced maximalism — the era of stacked synths, big drops, glossy digital drums, and constant stimulation — the pendulum has swung in the opposite direction. Today’s biggest hits increasingly sound like late-night confessionals rather than stadium anthems.

Music is evolving faster than ever. Genres merge and split. Algorithms dictate discovery. New stars appear overnight while legendary careers resurface with fresh energy. The business behind music shifts every quarter. But for many artists, executives, producers, and fans, the real question has remained the same: where can they go for sharp, trustworthy, human-centered journalism that explains what’s happening and why it matters?

From an early age it’s been about the rhythm section for Racket Club. Playing drums in bands that covered Rage Against the Machine and Deftones, Racket Club’s style has since morphed into what he calls Disco-Tech: a little Disco, a little Tech, and everything in between. He has an affinity for bouncy House music bass lines with female and hip hop vocals and you know he’s going to throw down in the club having done it for nearly 15 years, at venues like Sound Nightclub LA, Academy LA, Audio San Francisco, House of Blues, Lost Beach Club (Ecuador), Slate New York, and Zuma Boston. 

Racket Club has played support for and alongside heavy hitters HoneyLuv, Gene Farris, Westend, DJ Susan, OFFAIAH, Pickle, and Zen Freeman and he’s been on the bill for Groove Cruise, Wicked Paradise, Space Yacht, Hood Politics, Framework, and even Mammoth Mountain.

On the production side Racket Club’s released a flurry of edits that have gone viral on SoundCloud including his Beyoncé edit that’s approaching 50K streams and has aired on BBC Radio 1. He’s also had releases on Top Shelf Disco and Quincy Boy Records, with a release on Hood Politics out Spring 2023.

Former member of the record label Top Shelf Disco, a founder of the event series Pizza & Techno plus a co-founder of the music blog My Music Is Better Than Yours, Racket Club is no stranger to the electronic music world. Keep an eye on this LA-based stud as his single goal in life is to make you dance.
