Cowry Bay 2 is another 32 minute piano improvisation all in one take, the soundscape and themes are all inspired by Polzeath, Cornwall in the UK - and - specifically by a small inlet known as Cowry bay that is a place very dear to myself & my family. The project features field recordings from Cowry Bay, alongside birdsong from some UK forest & improvised Piano based on positive memories and feelings I have of the area.

When I was creating this album in November 2024 I realised I wanted it to be an improvised, one long take on Piano with different themes within it.

I did an acceptable take quite quickly (Cowry Bay 1). The things is - it seemed a bit short - I wanted the project to be closer to an hour. I wasn't able to play improvising & staying in a flow without messing it up for that long but I could consistently do it for 30 minutes.

About a week later I thought I might be able to do better so I did another one. Some alternate themes emerged and I wrote new inspirations for the themes (track names) - I pressed record and ran through it again and I had another Cowry Bay that I liked that was also about half an hour.

I liked the idea of a 1 long take album too much so I separated them out and released both simultaneously. On youtube they will be released together in one long recording which is how they are intended to be listened too. For long periods of deep focus, contemplation, sleeping, walking etc.

I wonder if there will be more Cowry Bay's.

The project features elements of World, Ambient, Classical and Jazz music.

The whole project is in 3/4 time & A=432Hz is in this project.
