SHORT SYNOPSIS of the musical—
Decades after it was whitewashed, América Tropical, a mural deemed too offensive for the public, re-emerges. Its reappearance brings bittersweet memories of Prohibition era Los Angeles to Rita Rey— a time when she fought a crooked system to save her family and bring justice to the Mexican American community.

Calyx Kre has studied Recording Arts and Development, Ableton Music, Music Marketing. Basics Of Astrology and Advanced Astrology. 

Calyx Kre has Sensory Integration Disorder, Autism, Epilepsy and Generalized Anxiety Disorder (she is ten years behind in physical, emotional and intellectual development), that she has grown from as a musical theatre/opera musical artist/singer, audio engineer and social media management podcaster/social media manager.

Trust Your Gut Productions (TYGP) is a licensed production company dedicated to new works, new artists, new voices, and new audiences.  We proudly create, workshop, and develop new plays, musicals, cabarets, variety shows, and more to the delight of audiences in the Upstate NY, Adirondack Park Regions, and beyond!

We are a diverse group of artists representing many backgrounds, identities, and talents who believe that art can change the world, that our voices, our stories, and our creativity can actuate change, and that “When push comes to shove, it’s better to love!”

All of our productions are curated with care and in the spirit of collaboration.  Whether it be a traditional play or musical, a new work, community outreach project, cabaret, dinner theatre, or other, we truly believe that creating art together can help lift our community up, inspire change, and make opportunities for Our Nation’s Youth to raise their voices.

Founded by a son and mother (Michael Maricondi and Carol-Anne Gaetano) in 2009, Trust Your Gut Productions has toured to dozens of schools in the NorthEast, helping communities heal, grow together, and learn from each other's experiences with their inaugural piece, When Push Comes to Shove, written by Michael Maricondi and Rachel Bloom (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend)

TYGP's "parallel curriculum" uses the power of musical theatre to prepare children to effectuate positive change within their communities by teaching kindness face-to-face and behind the screen, with the goal of helping them to guide themselves towards fulfilling their civic duties to themselves, their communities, and their world.

TYGP is currently seeking collaborators who have crafted pieces of musical theatre with an eye towards helping children learn to live together, love one another, and make the world a better place.
