much time has passed since my last upload. So I am very happy to share my latest set that I played at the @Mysticcreatures showcase at Culturebox in Kopenhagen (playtime 1-3 am). In this set I played some of my alltime favourite techy tunes which are by @acado_music & @modestcrow, @einmusik, @erlyofficial, @yourgardenstate - just to name and appreciate some of them 🖤.

We are very grateful that the Mystic Tales Crew invited us to play at their showcase at Klunkerkanich. 
Not the best weather for the Klunkerkanich...Cold, windy and cloudy, the summer of 2023 in Berlin has not exactly shown itself from its best side.
We had no idea that this would be ideal for the mood later in the evening...
We played the closing in Wohnzimmer from 22 to 01h on that saturday and had a lot of fun. 
To all the motivated dancers and your energy - we loved it, thank you so much!
Special thanks to the super warm welcome from the other DJs, Diladi, Zaharaa Drekk and Midas 104 and the Klunkerkranich Crew..

🎧 Ezio Aguiar presents "Intimacy" Afterhour Sounds Podcast Nr. 263 🎧

Heute laden wir euch zu einer sinnlichen, aber auch deepen und tanzbaren Episode voll des Charmes, der Gelassenheit und der epischen Momente ein. 

Der https://soundcloud.com/mystic-tales-berlin Artist https://soundcloud.com/ezio-aguiar besticht seit Jahren mit einer hohen Qualität seiner Mixe, die sowohl zum Verweilen, als auch zum Tanzen einladen. Irgendwie Musik, die einen immer an eine sonnige Bühne auf dem Festival katapultiert. Hierbei zeigt er ein ausgsprochens Feingefühl im Trackpicking und dem Aufbau von Stimmungen. Schon alleine der Anfang des Mixes ist fein säuberlich gewählt und läutet sanft in die bevorstehenden 3 Stunden Musik ein. Im Verlauf serviert er dem Hörer tanzbare, teils deepe und bouncige Stücke, die kein Bein ruhig stehen lassen. Ab und zu versprüht er auch eine Art Afterhour Nostalgie,  wie zum Beispiel bei Minute 59 und diesem epischen Track. Sagenhaft.

✔️ Was sind eure musikalischen Einflüsse?

I could name so many artists who have inspired me in different ways along my musical path. I can't help but to mention Mira, Janoma, Caleesi, Sarah Kreis, Niki Sadeki, Elias Doré and Unders, from whom I've drawn countless inspiration, yet the list is much longer than this. Also festivals like Fusion, Garbicz, Bucht der Träumer and Burning Man have had a huge impact on the music I play.

Unlike many artists out there, I didn't grow in a musical home. My blood family is big, but as far as I know, none of them is a musician. But somehow I found again and again amazing references from different music paths, from whom I could learn and integrate a lot. I for sure had a progressive rock and a jazz phase, which occasionally can be heard in some of my sets. Before I started to dive deep into electronic music, I was obsessed with a progressive metal band called Dream Theater. One wouldn't notice their influence on me, but listening to their conceptual albums has definitely taught me a lot about how to build a set and tell a story.

✔️ Was macht deiner Meinung nach eine gute Afterhour aus?

A strong desire to dance and an urge to connect, which keeps people from going home despite being physically exhausted. The tiredness invites people to be closer together and the music to be slower. It should still be driving enough to keep people dancing and soft enough to create intimacy, warmth and depth. In my opinion, the combination of all of these elements together is what makes a great afterhour (: 

✔️ Welche Gedanken magst du uns zu deinem Mix mit auf den Weg geben?

This might sound daring, but if I'm honest, I created "Intimacy" with the imagination of a set I could listen to at a festival as well as while making love. I've built it in waves. Some parts are sexy, charming or even mystical, some are tender and romantic and others are simply deep and wild. It definitely is very warm throughout the whole journey, and the last 30 minutes feel like a long and melting musical hug. Overall, I believe "Intimacy" also captures well the beginning of the summer vibes and is a great festival warm up (;

It was a great honor and not least the greatest pleasure to celebrate the 4th birthday with the Mystic Creatures and close the Räubahöhle. There is some magic story behind this release.

The intro of this song I made while I was locked up in quarantine in Jakarta.
I moved to Bali, and I got a message from my dear friend Proshe to create a remix for his upcoming release. When I received the acapella, I immediately realized how perfectly it fits the intro I made 2 weeks before.
The whole of January month I was working on this track.

The war in Ukraine started on the 24th of February.
I have no words how to describe this...

While I was working on this track I couldn't even think how strong the message and the light in this song will become in these times.
For me, it's a big honor to be part of this release, especially now!

"Cherry Garden" is a Ukrainian folk song - "Oi u vishnevomu sadu". For many generations Ukrainian women sang it to their men, the last one was especially needed at the time of the Second World War. It warmed the souls of those who defended their homeland, and it was a song of peace and love.

Here's the message that I want to share with The World -

"We know that sometimes we all may not understand each other, but the soul with the soul speaks the language of music understandable to everyone. Let this music tell everyone in The World about peace and that the war in Ukraine must be stopped"

Mystic Creatures Festival: what a stunning way to end summer!

Amazing vibe, lovely crowd, top-notch music and a breathtaking location: definitely one to remember!
Here's my set from the Mystic Ground stage on Sunday from 13-14.30. The merciless heat boiled most of the dancers, myself and one CDJ during my set - but the despite the temperature and the technical issues it was really a fun one.

Thanks to the Mystic crew for creating something so unique and for inviting me to play, thanks to my super supportive friends from Copenhagen and Milan and to the other dancers that defied the scorching sun, and thanks to everyone who made this weekend so special.

Was war das für bitte für eine Nacht !?! Unglaublich, wir schütteln heute noch den Kopf. 
Zunächst von Herzen ein Dankeschön, an all die Tänzer, die sich diese Nacht so lange in die Schlange gestellt haben und das Mensch Meier mit ihrer Energie verzaubert und mal wieder in einen mystischen Ort verwandelt haben. Zur Veranschaulichung: Selbst ein Teil unserer Freunde musste über 2h in der Gästelistenschlange warten und hat so leider den Anfang unseres Sets verpasst 😓😓. Das könnt ihr jetzt auf Soundcloud nachhören (Ggf. geht auch noch unsere Zugabe online 😉 ).

Wie bereits vorprogrammiert war die Nacht legendär und nicht zuletzt emotional. Wir sind nach wie vor zutiefst gerührt und geehrt, dass wir unseren Beitrag dazu leisten durften. Danke Dir, Jacob für dein Vertrauen, uns Frischlingen diesen Closing Slot zu geben. Dieses Gefühl, so viele Menschen auf eine musikalische Reise mitnehmen zu dürfen und irgendwann gefühlt Eins mit dem Publikum zu sein, ist wirklich unbeschreiblich schön und etwas, was wir vor dem Auflegen noch nie erfahren haben. Unsere Rührung wurde umso großer durch die ganzen lieben Worte und Gesten, die wir während und nach dem Set bekommen haben. Angeblich waren im letzten Teil des Sets nicht nur bei uns Tränen im Spiel, was wir nicht zu träumen gewagt hätten. 
 
In diesem Sinne Danke an euch Mystic Creatures für eure wunderbaren Feste, an das Mensch Meier für diesen wundervollen Ort und alle Anwesenden für ihre Energie.

🎵 Pulli & Chomba [at] Beate Uwe - Mystic Creatures NYE [Live - Special]  🎵

https://soundcloud.com/pullichomba are since a while one of the hottest down- and midtempo acts in Germany. A good portion of bounce meets melody and organic elements. A mixture that simply fits. That's why we're so happy that the two of them joining our Live-Special series with an outstanding recording from the Beate Uwe. Look forward to almost 2 hours of danceable music. It's worth it.

✔️ What are your musical influences? What are your musical backgrounds? 

Our musical influences come definitely from the dancefloor. Feeling the music and connecting with the story of the DJ is something that both of us really enjoy as dancers. And that is something that we try to bring to our Sets as well... Telling our story, connecting hearts and grooving all together in one rhythm is something that we enjoy most about being DJs. Before we met each other, we both liked folk music very much, still do ;). Since Chomba moved from Chile to Australia he got into the electronic music scene and started to enroll in ableton production classes. When Pulli moved to Berlin she went from D'n'B to Balkan Beats partys until she found her love for electronic music.

Since we met and decided to make music together our style is constantly shaping. First, we lived some years in Chile and played some afro house (our first release was actually an afro house track). We love to combine melodies and vocals with rhythmical elements. Back then we were more influenced by South American rhythms, sounds and elements. Since we moved to Berlin in 2022 we have been more and more influenced by the Berlin music scene, which has way darker and bassier sounds on the plate for us.

✔️ Thoughts about the Set:
It's interesting now to think about our musical backgrounds and analyze the Set we played for the New Year's Party at Beate Uwe. It was 6 am and the dancefloor was still super crowded. We went from some melodic tunes to indie dance and it even got a little discoish at the end. It was a really interesting and funny journey trying to catch the vibe of the crowd. It's also a journey into our past - connecting the melodic, rhythmical elements with some darker tunes. It was a lot of fun.

✔️ What is a good afterhour for you?
What we like about afterhours, is that there is always this unique vibe that was created by everybody together during the night... The afterhours we played were all pretty different, some were faster and darker and others were softer and more melodic.
We love both types but our hearts definitely go more with the softer ones. Creating that special vibe, where everybody is just enjoying, eyes closed, forgetting about everything that happens around us, just being in that moment together- is such a privilege. And it doesn't matter if there is a full dancefloor or just a few people left - it's about the connection and love that everybody feels in that moment.

Afterhour Sounds is since his begining in 2012 a crew of music lovers, music makers and music supporters. What started as an small idea developed over the years into an important institution in the field of electronic dance in and beyond germany. Our goal was and still is to enrich the world with different interpretations of the afterhour. 

In the beginning, we focused our passion on finding and supporting (un)known artists through blog posts, reposts and podcast contributions. Gradually, we expanded our sections to include live recordings and premieres. In-house releases and events were not long in coming. The crew changed, but the passion and spirit remained.
