hello my friends, my family, my mezcal moons. welcome to mix 47. i am so thrilled to be back with a new lesson. in this mix we showcase the peace and wisdom of the beautiful gangaji. her soft voice pairs so well with liquid and the deeper side of things i am honored to introduce you if you haven't already heard her lectures and what her heart has to offer us.

'prayer' in particular is what she touches on here. no matter what religious or spiritual background we come from, we all know the importance and power of prayer. i once read somewhere that if prayer is talking to god, then intuition is god talking to you. both equally important sides of the same coin.

no matter which direction you choose in communing with your god, it doesn't matter if you call it prayer or not. our faith in our ability to connect with our natural higher source that lives within us is the vital lesson here. the vital action. 

when we go deep in our meditation and ask for things, when we write our goals and desires down, when we practice manifestation and visualization, when we kneel knees down, when we wish for certain events and outcomes, when we simply have hope in a future we want to create for ourselves. these are all forms of prayer. 

as i sit here writing this, i can attest how powerful prayer is in my life. all my life I've been an artist, I've been a creator. i have stacks of notebooks on notebooks on notebooks that I can read now, and in retrospect, I can now see I am living the life I always dreamed about. what ever it is you want to do, what ever it is you dream of, you can do it. there is nothing in this world you cannot do. I truly believe this. 

interestingly enough, half way through my bikram yoga session today, the message i received by "intuition" was that I can accomplish anything. and if any of you have ever practiced bikram hot yoga, you know it can be rather brutal to say the least....yet so rewarding.

believe in your self and believe in your source. don't be afraid to talk to god, or the tao, or the universe. talk to that energy always. engage with it. make it a part of your everyday life. you don't have to wait till things are falling to pieces before asking for help. yet as we all know in the moments of suffering and desperation is when we're closest to that spirit. suffering is grace. but so is the ordinary mundane of routine. invite the tao in on all levels.

Liquid Drum and Bass Mix #47

cheers my friends, my family, my mezcal moons. its been almost 3 months but here I am. we are back. I can't believe so much time has passed since we last met. but with every post and every mix it always feels like we're picking up right where we left off. I hope you all have been well. April was filled with productivity getting my own music ready. I'm happy to announce I've made it on to two various artist compilations. one in Spain and one in the United Kingdom. April also consisted of attending the world famous Coachella Festival which was absolutely inspiring to say the least. 3 days of non stop action with friends and family. 

the month of May brought more music production and the opportunity to release two guest mixes for other youtube channels. one in Germany and one in the United Kingdom. they proved to do rather well and the love & support has been phenomenal. I still find it so amazing to be touching people around the world from the comfort of my home in southern California. May also brought an opportunity to play a show an hour away from me. being in front of a crowd can always be nerve wrecking but always so rewarding. as more time passes I intend to play more shows. who knows, maybe one day I can meet some of you in person. 

a side note to all of this, I've still kept up the diligence of daily meditation, reading, juicing, bikram yoga, silence, minimizing food intake, working a full time job, and most importantly...resting. I can be so dedicated that I have been known to drown myself in my work. as an artist, we strive to enter that flow state, so when we do it can seem like nothing else matters. I am guilty of this. but just like our beloved tao says, "when tao comes to you, ride it for all its worth."

Liquid Drum and Bass Mix #48

cheers everyone, welcome back, welcome to mix 49!

I write this with the exciting news of once again being able to travel across the atlantic ocean to visit the beautiful country of portugal all thanks to our beloved drum and bass music. 
for an entire week, to live in a breath taking, huge mansion-like villa and be surrounded by like-minded individuals all for the same purpose is nothing short of amazing. especially when these are people coming from all corners of the world. 

although we may be there to make and connect through music, it is what happens outside the music that makes these experiences so magical.

for instance, one morning sitting in a sauna with a very well known dnb producer/dj from austria and engaging in a deep conversation about kung fu and yoga is more than I could've asked for. and although later that evening we did get to make music and go back to back on the dj decks, it was our prior time together that then allowed us to understand each other when it came to creating music.

another morning, sitting with such an amazing being full of light who was from India, we had coffee and spoke about the tao te ching and the bhagavad gita. this time together allowed us to then later sit together and constructively criticize one anothers' music in a way that we would be open to where we needed to improve. 
these are just two of many beautiful experiences that took place during our retreat. 

musically, something great about this journey is I was able to hone in specifically on where my own productions were lacking and how to make the proper adjustments. I was reminded how far I've come and how much I've improved my sound and overall skill. to have people who recognize my presence in the dnb community and want to sit down together was very rewarding. 

from a personal standpoint, I was shown that not every experience will be like ones prior and that we can't always expect similar outcomes like the past. instead of trying to recreate something we've already done, why not move forward into the unknown and allow for new stories to be written. I learned that in normal life, just because things to tend to happen all at once, doesn't mean we still can't make the arrangements to do what we want. with a degree of planning, organizing, and help, all things are possible.

spiritually, I was reminded that wherever we go, we take ourselves with us. sometimes we look into the distance, imagining there's more to see, more to do, more to have, only to return home and realize our treasure has been with us all along. in no way am I saying we shouldn't travel the world and experience life, I am simply saying know why you are doing what you do. in my opinion, I think travel and communing with other cultures is extremely vital, yet I also know there is no place like home. in the tao, we are reminded "a sage can look at his front window, and experience the whole world."

you may not be where you want to be, and we should always be flowing forward, but at the same time, I encourage you to also appreciate where you currently are, who you currently are, and what you currently have. good things and bad things aren't meant to last forever. don't wait to enjoy your life. there is no "right time" to do something. it is happening all now.

Liquid Drum and Bass Mix #49

cheers everyone. welcome to mix number 50! wow what a wonderful milestone. thank you so much to you all who tune in on these journeys with me as we listen to drum and bass music while simultaneously receiving a small dose of philosophy and spirituality. I am very grateful for the community we have created here together. I've come to realize that those of you who are here with me are really here for the benefits of what these mixes provide. Someone commented on one these mixes once and said, "it doesn't matter how many subscribers or followers you have, jesus only had 12 disciples." I guess in other words...those who know, know. haha.

I want to share with you this passed week I got to play TWO shows! I played my first festival called "Love Long Beach" in Long Beach California, which is 2 hours away from me. It was a very special show because I was booked by the people who I seen play in august 2019 that really shifted my perspective and transformed my life. it was truly a dream come true and a manifestation come true.

the second was a popular venue called "The Bassment" which is a venue that is underground. literally. it was for a highly sought out night which they do on tuesdays called "Space Taco." this took place in Pomona California which is an hour and half away from me. The guys who booked me for this event live only an hour away from me yet found out about me through my friend in portugal. funny how that works, its such a small world haha.

keep pushing forward guys. keep taking action. and most importantly keep taking time to rest and do nothing.
