yet is a slippery word in English. Amorphous, these three letters in different contexts can define contrast or emphasis, set a place in time, show an expectation that something will occur or, paradoxically, that it is likely to stop. 

It is this mercurial nature that makes yet the perfect title for Tresor's latest compilation: the label follows on from the more explorative sections of 2021's landmark Tresor 30 boxed set with a compilation, featuring 13 artists making music that resists easy definition. 

Every track hints at and borrows from the familiar yet none follow the expected path: halfway through Deserto, Nandele &amp; A-Tweed dramatically reveal a very different sonic landscape that was initially suggested; DJ Sotofett collaborates with Tamil artist Kavadi with results that are unlike anything in the Norwegian producer’s catalogue as yet.

Further invention can be found as Jean Redondo's Hypersonic moves across spaces inhabited by digital hardcore and hyperpop before swerving off-road and into a futuristic hip-hop section; on No Longer Human, Ireen Amnes takes a different path at the crossroads melding hyperpop, trance, and sci-fi soundtrack atmospherics, Significant Other heads towards UK Bass and Dubstep, and France's Willis Anne skims by the outskirts of footwork with a piece that is almost completely uncategorisable.

Yet more sonic experimentation comes from E-Saggila, Nadia Struiwigh, NVST, Solid Blake, and Viikatory who offer unique takes on the well-established electro blueprint, while Ryan James Ford, and Nit. both find ways to blend elements normally found in ambient pieces with those heard on a dancefloor.

The feel of the compilation is yet again reflected in the enigmatic artwork by Malik Arbab, where shapes and colours suggest animals and plants but in a world that appears to be transient and constantly evolving.

Sonoplastiko: An Audio Visual Consultation by Nandele 

Concept:  Sonoplastiko is a sound performance, an audiovisual show of experimental electronic music, and "ambient music". However, the main focus is on sound and how it can be manipulated in a synthetic, or digital, and analog perspective, taking into account the acoustics of the space. 

The performance is compiled with field recordings of urban Maputo the capital Mozambique, plus field recordings from certain parts of Europe, airports, Ikea and others such as dialogues recorded in cassettes from Mozambican journalists and novel writers. 

Artist Bio:  Nandele is one of the most innovative beat makers,sound artists, producers and DJ coming from Mozambique. He is at the forefront of the alternative and experimental music scene with his mix of bass heavy Boom Bap instrumentals, Ambient, Techno, Ebm, dubstep, trap, psychedelic hip-hop beats and the makonde rhythms of Northern Mozambique. 

The son of the first black director of the Mozambican National Radio after the country's independence, this is where he gets his musical background listening in his early age to a vast musical catalog raging from Michael Jackson to Fela Kuti, from Kanda Bongo Man to Santana and Marvin Gaye, which he incorporates it in his beat making. 

A prolific producer and writer, Nandele has written music for contemporary dance performances, films and has a number of band projects including: Cantinho das Cores, The Mute Band (who won best new band at the Mozambican Music Awards in 2016) and Azagaia & Os Cortadores da Lenha. He has collaborated with artists such as Felix Laband (RSA), Dion Monti (CHF), Symbiz (DEU) and Boogz Brown (REU), African Ghost Valley(CAN). 

He has graced stages at some of the biggest festivals in Southern Africa: Afropunk Johannesburg, MTN Bushfire Festival in Swaziland, Azgo Festival in Mozambique. His first E.P. Argolas Deliciosas and his first full length album Likumbi was released through Mozambican independent label Kongoloti Records, he has released Eps/cassettes through label Inserttapes in Sweden (Blu Kidz), Already Dead Tapes 
and Records in Los Angeles (Plafonddeinst) and Cotch International in London (FF). Nandele is also member and founder of an audio-visual group Muave he is part of the Miss collective that recently released a multi-disciplinary performance called Degradação (Re)Generativa, he is part of international collective called Proximal Distal who had recently a residency and will release a publication and a vinyl. 

Nandele has remixed tracks for Dubokaj meets Lee Scratch Perry project and Mothers of Mars, and as producer for Tresor 30 compilation along with techno pioneers (Jeff Mills, Dj Stingray), established and upcoming artists around the world and he is part of artist roaster of Tresor Records as well. He has produced a jingle which was a collaboration with ASAAS Collective from Palestine for Radio Alhara, where he is constantly collaborating and his live performances and mixes are broadcasted. He has produced for the Original Soundtrack for the comic book informais created by Anima Studio Criativo. 

Nandele believes through his music he can do the unimaginable... communicating and taking us on his journey to try to communicate with other planets...

Mozambican live artist and producer Nandele kicks off Human Endeavour’s 2024 release schedule with ‘Maputo’, a musical ode to the city he calls home.

As a key figure in the capital’s electronic music scene, Nandele has earned a reputation for producing hypnotic analogue beats shaped by his wide-ranging tastes; spells in grunge bands, boom bap crews and hip hop collectives, and releases for Tresor, Cotch International and Already Dead Tapes, are just a few footnotes in a nearly 25-year long career.

Plans for a full body of work for Ransom Note’s sub-label have been in motion for some time - Nandele’s track ‘Incomati’ opened the label’s first ever release in 2022 - so this EP marks an important chapter in Human Endeavour’s journey.

Across the EPs six tracks Nandele weaves field recordings captured around Maputo with tense rhythms; at times they crawl and slither, at others they rumble and clatter.

Both ‘Sou Plastiko (Meu Lugar)’ and ‘Chapa 100’ are prime examples. Dripping with suspense, their rhythmic skeletons have been fleshed out with tripped-out synth lines, eerie, textural sounds and sharp, crisp percussion.

‘Nau603’, ‘Makonde’ and ‘Arquivo 16’ are equally trance-inducing but the tempo is raised. There’s frenetic beats and squelchy 303s; fizzing static and harsh, industrial sound design - all signifiers of Nandele’s imaginative sonic world.

‘News Day’ showcases another side of his production prowess; not only is he a master of beats but of synthesis too, as this beautiful, shimmering beatless composition proves.

“Maputo is my birth place and the project is an ode to the city also known as "Cidade das Acácias", and MPT for short. The capital is such a vibrant city, rich in culture, and all ethnicities of the country live in this amazing place.

“It's the people that make this place a wonderful place to live: the markets; the vendors on the streets; the Txova pushed around during the day with their different chants about the food or supplies that they are selling; the semi collective transportation called "Chapa Cem" with the "cobrador" saying the routes in a very peculiar tune. There is Music everywhere... that's Maputo!”: Nandele.

Legendary Mozambique producer Nandele returns to Already Dead with a new concept album, '1994'.

1994 is a work of sound fiction of the writer Vandole Ukalyoi and his journey through the city of Maputo two years after the ceasefire of the Mozambican civil war and the first democratic election.
The story occurs through a new reality for the Mozambican people and Vandole himself. A new Republic of Mozambique is much different and not so different from the previous. A New Hope.

The story takes place in the subconscious of Vandole as he explores the capital of Maputo, a previous colonial capital of the Portuguese colonial system and now independent and democratic, but how democratic is what the protagonist questions as new forms of social structures start to build. Instead of writing he has a new creative process in which he explores. 

Vandole, the journalist who records his journeys on the capital through a cassette recorder of the semi collective means of transportation of the capital called “Chapa Cem'. After collecting all of the recordings that can occupy a terabyte of a hard drive of today's technology, Vandole disappeared on the 1st of December of 1994 leaving behind all of his recordings. This is what he recorded. This is the story of Vandole Ukalyoi, the sound of the new republic.

At midnight, on March 13th 1991, a basement door opened at Leipziger Strasse 126, Berlin. Through this door, many passed, on their way to defining new terrains in electronic music. There they found a dance floor in the vaults of a closed-down department store, with a unique sound bound to dense fog, building night after night a history that was also a vision of the future. 

This history has seen in Jeff Mills’ first sets on three turntables, Underground Resistance's first live appearances in Europe, grandiose Tresor Park parties, to various chapters of the Loveparade with Sven Väth in the 90s and since then countless generation-spanning parties. These moments represent the highlights of infinite personal clubbing experiences. It is the manifestation of the Berlin spirit, emerging from its considerable strife. This history is not without its complications - from temporary closure by the authorities and several raids in the early years to closure and demolition of the old location in 2005. What followed was years of wandering in exile and, finally, resurrection in the new home in Kraftwerk Berlin.

These stories, conversations and shared experiences within our walls forge a resilience that drives towards a shared ideal, the Tresor sound: community, resistance, and the world to come. This was observed in the newly re-unified German youth, who danced and celebrated together from the club’s inception, and into the present day through ongoing community work in Detroit. 

Tresor Records was founded in the same year and began to serve as a platform for exporting the new sounds associated with Tresor all around the world. Emergent musicians from Michigan, such as Juan Atkins, Underground Resistance and Drexciya, were pivotal in shaping these early years. Their visits to Berlin would kick-start dialogue between the youth movement in Europe and these musicians. This story is one of friendship and community-building, inextricably linked with cities like Detroit, Birmingham or Edinburgh, where like-minded friends built something truly special, where revelatory rhythms soundtrack decaying industry in corrupted metropoles. 

Tresor Records has been the fertile soil for dozens upon dozens of creative minds, from the very luminaries of the scene who developed electronic music over the last three decades through to contemporary protagonists who are currently defining the sound of the future -  A more than 300 strong catalogue displays an unmistakable identity - the Tresor spirit.

To those that have danced before, and to those that will dance in the future: the light at the end of the long Tresor tunnel is a signal. A flicker amidst the fog. This is our future. This is our place.

Slow-rolling mix of scorched dark music and experimental techno that touches on the haunting and cathartic as well as all those moments 
will be lost in time, like tears in rain.
