"Look behind the mirror" is the story of Narcissus and our attraction to surface images. Pop stars, film stars, celebrities, and ourselves (selfies!); we love transient images.

What if what Narcissus saw was not his physical reflection, but his psychological one ?

This track is the result of several encounters : that of Narcissus, captivated by his reflection until his demise, and Alice, who steps through the looking glass. What if the waters in which Narcissus drowned were merely a mirror of his subconscious ? What if he had fallen madly in love with his dreams, however monstrous as they are?

"Midnight Madness" is the first song I am releasing under my own name. Until now, I have always written and sung for others. While exploring the capabilities of AI music creation tools, I generated the instrumental used here and thought : "Why not lay down my vocals and lyrics as I have done for other productions ?". So, this song is also a meeting point between my imagination and the hallucinations of a computer code.

Background and Social Commitment

When Monkssnap started writing music, Monkssnap did not think for a moment that Monkssnap could actually make money from it. Monkssnap only wrote what Monkssnap wanted, the joy in the music was enough.

Gradually, Monkssnap changes the idea, goal and career was that Monkssnap should generate income for the music, so it's incredibly good that SoundCloud can contribute with that. The income goes to street projects in Uganda, and help youth in culture, art and music who can to be a landscape that is difficult to navigate.

At the same time as there is an incredible amount of project information that you have to familiarize yourself with, it is also a terrain that is constantly changing where the rules can change in a second. That's why Monkssnap is incredibly grateful that there is media like SoundCloud that safeguards the rights and stands firm and safe in all the chaos.

On top of everything, SoundCloud helps to give a small reminder that all the time you spend on music is worth it. It is very good to know that the music Monkssnap writes actually has value, and that Monkssnap is there with new ideas and projects at a level where youth exists.
