In search of the storm. Field recording made in the Harz National Park in Lower Saxony. Soundscapes of nature, such as rivers and small mountain streams accompanied by different birds, insects, rain, wind and sometimes by the steam train, which is the only one in regular service that is exclusively pulled by steam locomotives. A soundscape that is increasingly difficult to enjoy due to the number of agents that acoustically pollute these temples of nature through human activities, machinery and airplanes. Mesa Verde National Park: The Ancient Cliff Dwellings Near Durango

S11:E4 – On a map, Shenandoah looks like a small, basic national park. It’s basically one road along the ridge of mountains. That’s why Jamin and Hilarie were delighted by its breathtaking views – both from hilltops to inside the mountains themselves. From Old Rag Mountain to Camp Rapidan, this is the same wilderness where U.S. President Herbert Hoover and his wife came to rest and reset during his presidency. Beneath it all, there are (literally) countless miles of caves—the Endless Caverns—where the temperature consistently stays 55F and where Jamin and Hilarie met true darkness for the first time.

Shenandoah: Even Presidents Need a Good Getaway

En plein cœur du Parc national de la Vanoise, les chalets d'alpage témoignent de siècles de savoir-faire et d'ingéniosité.

Alice Roy est partie à la rencontre de la famille Pélissier à Entre Deux Eaux sur le chantier de restauration du chalet d’alpage familial. 

Aux côtés de la famille Pélissier, Alice Roy a échangé avec Fabien Pousset, chargé de mission aménagement et travaux pour le Parc national de la Vanoise, Pierre Chazelas, architecte conseil du Parc, et l'entreprise Glénat, maçons spécialisés dans la restauration du bâti ancien.

Live from Phoenix, Arizona. The Magic win their first game of this three-game West road trip. Orlando’s win streak extends to 6 consecutive victories. The Magic are continuing to adjusting to not having Paolo Banchero by continuing to suffocate opponents with stellar defense. Franz Wagner fresh off his first NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week award once again had over 30 points. Anthony Black dropped a season-high 20 points. The Suns didn’t have Durant, Beal, or Nurkic, and no one could stop Goga Bitadze in the paint. The Magic are 9-6 and still the third seed in the East.

It was a great game to witness while sitting courtside. First Magic win in Phoenix since 2018.

Joshua Tree National Park: Where Giant Sloths Used to Roam

Around 60 protestors converged at the entrance to Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park and Highway 50.  Cars honked in support of the protestors who held signs and rang bells to rally the public to support public lands employees and the lands owned by all Americans.

There’s nothing quite like a drive into the mystic desert. From the Mojave to Joshua Tree, this vast expanse is as inspiring as it is unforgiving. Yet, we often take for granted those who dedicate their lives to protecting these landscapes and keeping them open to all. Over a thousand national park service members have been needlessly terminated, threatening the very existence of our national parks. In honor both the guardians of these lands and the wonder of the desert itself, let’s take a drive into the abyss—welcome to a desert daze.
