Are you a fan of Interbay's dance music tracks or Interbay's pretty pop songs?  

Well, this ain't that.  (Just thought I should give you a heads up.)  

This is some nasty aggro post-punk, angular with slashing guitars with synthesizers for atmosphere and emphasis.  

I am a big fan of Killing Joke, New Model Army, Joy Division, Siouxsie & the Banshees, Gang of Four, Theatre of Hate, Bauhaus, Public Image Ltd., That Petrol Emotion, Ned's Atomic Dustbin...oh, all right, I'm a fan of LOTS of bands--but the groups I've just mentioned were strong influences on me and the bands I was in when I was rockstar skinny and had enough hair to do crazy things with it.  Unfortunately, for whatever reason, we didn't push far enough to sound much like these inspirations except occasionally.

For this track, my inspiration comes from Red Lorry Yellow Lorry--and it is meant to hit you like a truck.  (My first songwriting partner, Chan, introduced me to Red Lorry Yellow Lorry and pushed me into admitting how strongly I was moved by Joy Division and The Cure's full catalog--not just "the hits".)  

Drums that sound like oil cans, guitars that sound like tortured steel, darkly sinister vocals...this is post-punk proto-goth...and I'm pretty pleased with it!  

Now, this is where your perception takes center stage--because "Whilring Around My Head" has a narrative, but what is that narrative?  I tagged this with "menace" because the dark spoken vocals certainly seem menacing.  

Is the singer hinting at something scandalous?  Something horrific?  Could this be a case of not judging someone by what they look or sound like?  

I know that I can interpret this song in four completely different ways--and I'm the guy who wrote it!  So, I'll leave it up to you intuition and imagination to fill in any blurry spots...and that might tell you something about yourself.  

This track is too long, I know.  As I often say, I bet there's a four minute edit in here that would be really good--especially if I could get myself to sing the vocals and try to find someway for EVERY INSTRUMENT to be really loud.  (I fear the drums got buried a bit this time.)  I might give it another pass someday.  

This track is meant to keep you off-balance, to send your head spinning.  This might seem like it would be good to dance to (depending on how much hair spray, black eyeliner, and clove cigarettes you have on hand)...but it also doesn't necessarily feel like your standard four on the floor track.  

I guess this song is meant to be whirling around your head.
