In the first few seconds, this sounds like it might be a traditional piano ballad...possibly even a power ballad.  

And then I make a strange chord progression choice, and it is immediately clear that this was NOT where this track was going to go.  

When the drums come in, it may feel like the track doesn't know what it wants to be--but trust me, it does.  

Apologies for the length of today's posting--I'll explain why it ended up like this later in this description.  Just wanted you to know right away that I KNOW!

Inspirations for this track?  "Charlotte Sometimes", 4AD Records, Siouxsie, "Heavenly Creatures", pervy 70s British films about boarding schools...stuff like that.  

This was, for most of the past two days, a rather delightfully moody 3 minute mostly instrumental track with some chopped up ethereal vocals. 
 
I thought about posting it just like that--but then I had the idea to wander in the a similar forest as "Charlotte Sometimes" (both the song by The Cure AND what I know of the book) and I ended up writing a randy, "Tales of Ribaldry"-esque diary entry of forbidden and magical first love, written in limerick verse, that I KNEW was too long.   

As you can tell when you click on this link, I couldn't manage to take the best author's advice ever given:  "Kill Your Babies."  

(Spelled out, that just means "don't fall in love with your own writing or specific things that you've written that you can't realize what needs to be cut out for the story to be told properly and to do so.")  

So, think of today's posted track as the "full length album version" of this track--the "full story", if you will--and I may, one day, give it another pass.  I'll kill some of my babies, I'll add a properly sung chorus and some purely instrumental sections to let the ideas breathe a bit...and still bring it in four minutes shorter than this (cross your fingers.)  

As it is, this is a mood.  If you're in this mood, this will be a wonderful choice for your life's soundtrack.  Click the track, give it a like, a repost, a share and follow (and follows always earn a follow back.)  

If you're not in the mood--put it aside until you are.  I'll understand.  

There will be something very different posted tomorrow, I'm sure.

FINAL NOTE: It is not lost on me that the narrative reads a bit like a Penthouse Forum letter...and maybe that's why I've buried it in reverb, panning and phasing.  It doesn't get further than an average 8pm Cinemax movie, rest assured.
