EYEBEE - ''MATRIX'' RAP/ TRAP INSTRUMENTAL

In this episode of the Mayor’s Corner, Mayor Sean reports that the Parks Reorganization Plan was given the go-ahead with a 10-1 vote from the City Council on Monday night. The search for the DPS Director and Fire Chief continue. The Plum Island Dredge Project remains on hold. There is a Merrimack River Beach Alliance (MRBA) Meeting on Friday at 10am at PITA Hall. The Merrimack Valley Transit Authority, or MeVa, will be taking a demonstration ride on Monday, March 6th at 2pm to test out new routes and evaluating how well they meet the needs of riders. Plans for year 2 of the Streets & Sidewalks Plan are underway and will be considered by the City Council next week. Close to 4 miles of roadway is expected to be re-surfaced. 

As part of the Presidential Plunge, Mayor Reardon jumped into the Atlantic Ocean during Tuesday’s storm along with Nate Allard, President of the Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce & Industry and 5 others, raising over $7500 for the Chamber. 

In the coming weeks, City Hall will be partnering with Newburyport Community Service (CSN) to collect toilet paper (single rolls or a 4/6 pack, nothing larger please) for residents in need. Toilet paper is one of their most requested items. There will be two bins located in the lobby from March 6 – March 31st. Residents are encouraged to stop by City Hall with donations. 

NYS is taking nominations for their Asset Builder Awards, which will take place on April 6th. Nominations are open through March 10th and the application form is here:

Firehouse Center for the Arts presents "Doubt" Promo

Mayor Sean Reardon is on location at the Beach Plum Flower Shop to promote and kick-off the Forever Green Campaign, but first he begins with a shout out to DPS for their hard work during the past few storms. The extension for the Plum Island Dredge Project has been granted and finalized today. The City Council will discuss new legislation on Short-Term Rental Units at the next Planning & Development Committee Meeting. Budget season has begun with the Newburyport Public Schools and each City Hall Department Head presenting their budgets to the Mayor. There will be a Boards and Commissions Open House at City Hall in the Auditorium on Thursday, May 4th from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. The public will be invited to attend, ask questions and learn more about serving on our many Boards & Commissions. 

He gives a shout out to his beloved Newburyport High School teams, in particular the Girls Varsity Basketball and Boys Varsity Hockey, both on their way to the finals. The Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce & Industry is hosting the return of Restaurant Week from March 12th – 26th, 2023.  Participating restaurants will offer prefix meals ranging from casual to fine dining all set at affordable prices. 7. Literary Women Long Beach Festival of Authors, February 11, 2023, Long Beach, CA. Started in 1982 the Literary Women Festival of Authors is dedicated to helping balance the field of writers. They seek to share work that may not have the stage to do so. Proceeds go to the Long Beach Public Library to purchase books that will be featured at upcoming festivals. Any bookworm will like this spin on literary festivals.
