Guest Mix for 'Safe In Sound' Radio Show

Hook Records is back with one of the biggest releases of the summer, Deniro’s “Mind of Man.” Nicholas gives this classic track a slick overhaul, winning early support from Christopher Lawrence and John 00 Fleming who both played it on their radio shows.

Originally released in 1996, Deniro's Mind of Man became a pivotal release for Hook's unique brand of no compromise trance and immediately became a firm favorite of many of the day’s major players. The 2009 release also gets the the remix treatment from the tracks composer Chris Cowie using his X Cabs alias.

Future Forest is an outdoor camping arts festival with a focus on electronic music. The festival originated in 2012 as a fundraiser for a friend and accomplished DJ, Jay Hamilton, who was diagnosed with cancer. Future Forest proudly embraces the perspective that there are no spectators at the event but rather participants who in some way contribute to the overall experience. Now in its ninth year of operation.

Located in the middle of a forest beside a river, far from any houses, Future Forest immerses its guests into the wilderness located just 30 minutes outside of Fredericton, New Brunswick. The festival features three unique stages that are built using the natural resources the forest provides. The tall trees and beautiful landscapes are utilized for stage construction.

TRANCEFUSIONS 003 - PROGRESSIVE PICKS 2014 YEAR MIX (PART 1)

Hello everyone and welcome back to another episode of Trancefusions, as always a really big thanks to everyone that has streamed and downloaded previous podcasts. It's great to be getting comments and messages from you all, so keep them coming :-)

So as 2014 came to a close, I've taken a close look at the tracks collected during the year and I've compiled a set that will most probably be about 4 hours long. Throughout the course of 2015, I will be sprinkling 1 hour progressive feature sets. Since the second hour will be at a slower pace, I've ramped up the 2 mini mixes and put together a trancey mix, followed by a harder break beat/trance/psy set.

One of the really enjoyable things in doing this show is being able to share new productions from DJ/Producer friends from around the world. The opening track - Playing With Fire featured in the second turbo mix was produced by friend Kris Ellissentials. He has been a DJ and producer for about 15 years, this latest release has done extremely well on the beatport charts at the end of last year.

Nicholas Bennison has been a long term friend of ours here at JOOF Recordings, having done various remixes for us, we thought it was about time we released one of his singles. Two throbbing tracks here, as the mix name suggest the lighter version has a uplifting flair, yet not crossing over the boundary of commercialism. The dark mix however takes a very serious twist. Both these tracks can be used in the same DJ set.

Mr Squires is a DJ, music curator, and storyteller through sound. He first gained recognition at Kerfuffle Cambodia, an underground jungle party, where his sunrise sets and melodic house and techno became a staple of the event.

He curates two podcast series: Techno for Breakfast, featuring house and techno made for the mornings and The Slowpoke Sessions, a downtempo exploration of multicultural sounds. He is also the creator of @LifeOrganic, a music brand and radio platform that blends music, wellness, and nature into immersive storytelling experiences. Known for his ability to adapt to the soundscape of any dancefloor, Steve earned the respect of his peers by touring the country playing for an eclectic selection of promoters pushing the music he loves. 

House? Techno? Prog? Breaks? It's all in there, and more. Steve loves nothing more than being let loose over an extended period where he has freedom to move between genres.

High profile support on releases last year saw Steve garner further attention before a break to go travelling halted proceedings but word on the grapevine is things are moving in the right direction again so keep your ears open.

The VERNSKI project started like most others.... Bedroom DJing and branching out into local club nights in Darwin. 

The Trancefusions podcast was launched in 2013 and has had a host of international guest DJs. Supported by Airwave, The Digital Blonde, Daniel Lesden, Steve Birch, Facade, Omnimoon, Tim Penner and many others.

Progressive Evolution Theory was launched in 2016 for Progressive Beats Radio. All sets are available on the back catalogue.

Trance/Progressive House DJ and Producer Nicholas Bennison has a slew of productions which are played by the world's biggest DJs and have been licensed to major mix CDs by Paul Van Dyk, Ferry Corsten, Christopher Lawrence, John 00 Fleming and Marco V, the latter four released through Ministry of Sound. Some of the industry's most influential labels that have released his work are Joof (UK), Five AM (UK), Recoverworld/Eve/Flux Delux (UK) and Fektive (Holland). Nicholas has collaborated with Christopher Lawrence, and was commissioned to remix Christopher & John 00 Fleming's co-production, Beyond The Limit, for the first release on Christopher's Pharmacy label. Nicholas has also co-produced tracks with Gareth Emery and legendary Hook & Bellboy Recordings producer, Chris Cowie (X-Cabs).

Nicholas's popularity as a DJ rose from the mid 90s as he played ferocious and technically brilliant sets for promoters such as Spundae, Giant, Insomniac, 1015, Belo, Myst, Empire Ballroom, La Boom, Clear Channel, Go Ventures, Destiny, B3 Cande, and Global Electro. In 1999, Nicholas was commissioned by Arcade America to mix two of the US's best selling Trance Global Nation CD compilations which collectively sold over 50,000 copies. To support the brand, Nicholas headlined the Trance Global Nation Tour (featuring Jerry Bonham, D:Fuse and Doran) and played televised events throughout North and South America, Canada and Asia. Nicholas also became a regular at the US’s biggest festivals including Nocturnal Wonderland and Together As One. Nicholas's third mix CD, Crystal Vol.2, was released in 2001 as another testament to his unique and uncompromising style.

After years of success as a DJ, Nicholas diligently taught himself to produce his own music. His first single, Caverns, was signed to Looq Records and supported by Sasha, John Digweed and Nick Warren. This led to a stream of releases and remixes for the world's top labels and a successful career as a producer. 2008 saw the release of Nicholas's debut artist album on his Propulsion Records label. Tension of Opposites showcases his unique and evolving take on tech trance, progressive house, breakbeat, techno and psy-trance through eleven brand new productions. Since the inception of Propulsion Records in 2003, the label has had considerable success with an uncompromising sound that treads the line between progressive and trance but doesn't easily fit into either one of those categories. The roster is comprised of the most credible and influential artists from around the globe including Chris Cowie, John 00 Fleming, Christopher Lawrence, DJ Preach, Leon Bolier, Lee Haslam, DJ San, Inkfish, and Thomas Penton.
