Tahouny byly především technologie, komunikace a finance, zatímco energetika zaznamenala dvojciferný pokles. "Ta výsledková sezóna prakticky byla o AI,“ shrnuje analytik Branislav Soták.

No dia 29 de outubro, a Nvidia atingiu estratosféricos US$ 5 trilhões de valor de mercado. E isso esconde alertas para todos nós.

Primeira empresa a chegar a essa marca, ela é o indicador mais reluzente da importância que a inteligência artificial passou a ocupar em nossas vidas. Mas o mercado já teme que a hipervalorização das empresas ligadas à IA seja uma bolha especulativa prestes a estourar. O questionamento mais importante, entretanto, é quanto a IA seria uma tecnologia viável sem essa injeção insana de dinheiro.

A euforia é justificada pelo seu potencial transformador. O mercado calcula que ela deve elevar o PIB global em 7% e a produtividade em 1,5% em uma década. Nesse ano, já representa cerca de 40% do crescimento do PIB americano e é responsável por 80% dos ganhos nas ações. Sem a IA, o crescimento econômico da terra do Tio Sam teria sido cerca de um terço do que foi.

Os exageros residem na pressa do mercado em querer que a tecnologia “entregue o futuro logo”, ignorando que poucas dessas empresas são lucrativas, e que a IA ainda impacta pouco ou nada nos resultados de 95% dos que nela investem. A própria OpenAI, maior estrela do setor e criadora do ChatGPT, opera no vermelho. Além disso, seu faturamento estimado em US$ 13 bilhões é insignificante perto dos US$ 300 bilhões que ela se comprometeu a gastar com infraestrutura da Oracle e US$ 250 bilhões com a Microsoft.

As empresas investem na IA porque têm medo de ficar para trás, não porque encontraram um modelo de negócio sustentável. O próprio Sam Altman, CEO da OpenAI, disse em agosto que o setor de IA vive em uma bolha e que “alguém vai perder uma quantidade fenomenal de dinheiro”.

Claro que não dá mais para deixar a IA de lado. Mas manter esses investimentos sem retornos pode ser insustentável e causar um “banho de sangue” em poucos anos. Essa corrida desenfreada para “ser dono” da IA já passou dos limites.
