[Techno] 145Bpm Friedrich Krüger-Amin @ Ghost Trier (NYE + Club Closing) vom 01.01.2023

On Saturday, December 31st, I was honored to be invited to play at a NYE Trance DJ event at a club called Opaline, in Portland, Oregon. This was a special show for me for a couple of reasons, 1/ Opaline was a new club for me, which is always exciting and fun to spin at new venues, but also, 2/ this was my very first time playing in Portland since December 31st, 2019, for the NYE Bash at the Whiskey Bar, a club that I’ll always hold near and dear to my heart and which has since unfortunately closed down due to financial hardships caused by the COVID pandemic, which took the world by storm just a few months after that show.. This means that I was able to spin with some of my best DJ buddies like ZOXY and Scott Vorel (Cooltown) down there, whom I’ve missed terribly over the past several years. I was also joined by a Seattle Trance DJ and long-time buddy of mine, Serjey Andre Kul, which was a lot of fun, and the show was kicked off by a rising young DJ in Portland, Shay Baca, and she kicked off the eve with a banging Electro House set that had the crowd bouncing off the walls. We had a total blast that night bringing in the New Year, and the crowd was so much fun to play to. I was SOOOO happy the way this set turned out, and I was able to play tracks on the slower, more progressive side by so many big name artists that you usually find in the higher BPM’s of Uplifting Trance, such as Ronski Speed, Nitrous Oxide, DJ T.H., Dan Stone, and Kyau & Albert, plus some of my current FAVORITE spine tingly and brand new Progressive House tracks from the likes of Vintage & Morelli, SØNIN, Hiski, and Laura van Dam. I really tried to select tracks that might capture some feelings one might be inclined to feel on New Year’s Eve, and it was one of those nights where everything just fell together so perfectly and I wished the night would never end.. I know I’ll be listening to this set many times over the next many months, and I hope that you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed playing it. Seattle's Mark McCarthy a.k.a. DJ Gotek emerged out of the exploding Electronic Dance Music scene in the Pacific Northwest over the past decade+, and has held residencies at some of the hottest DJ clubs in the NW such as The Underground, Club Contour, and Foundation Nightclub in Seattle and Whiskey Bar in Portland, and also has played at an ever growing list of clubs and venues on the west coast. DJ Gotek always strives to create a feeling of euphoria with his mixes which are consistently heavy on the dreamlike and spine-tingly electronic sounds, regardless of which genre he’s playing in; Mark’s passion is to move people by bringing the very best in in Trance and Progressive to his audiences, and hopefully it shines through in the mixes he creates.

Note: Mark only uses AIFF lossless quality tracks mostly purchased at Beatport.com (except for producer demos). All mixes were either recorded live in the club or directly from Mark's gear (DJM A9 Mixer, 2 Pioneer CDJ3000's) recorded on a Zoom H4n Pro in WAV format, then professionally sound leveled post-recording, Voice ID Tagged, and  converted to MP3 by Chris Dececio Studios in the UK. EVERY single mix on Mark's Soundcloud was recorded live and in the moment on top-notch Pioneer DJ gear, not mixed with computer software, so they might not be exactly perfect 100% of the time, but they are "real", which is a standard of mix quality, authenticity, care, passion for live mixing, and DJ integrity Gotek is proud of. =)
