Fourteen years ago DCSIS, the founder and showrunner of SOULMEEX, led another mix series named Digitanalogico that only lasted 3 episodes, unfortunately. A different time for streaming and music in general, but the concept was exactly the same than these days: just sharing good music, no matter where it comes from. It premiered on April, 5th 2010 with Ivan Smoka, a regular of Madrid club scene since the late nineties. You’re about to enjoy a meex that, just like the good wine, aged incredibly fine.

‘The mental health charity label returns with a stunning re-issue of Octogen’s release on Soma Recordings - a highly revered Scottish label founded in 1991 by none other than Dave Clarke and Slam. Originally released in 2008, its idiosyncratic spaced pads work effortlessly over a moody yet transcending bassline. The 7 minute sonic trip stands as a true testament to it’s track name ‘The Journeyman’ and despite being over 17 years old - it truly is one of those pieces of music which brings a whole new meaning to the term “timeless”. The B side features two original cuts from the actual man behind the mysterious Octogen alias, making this release a beautiful comparison between old and new as you flip the record over. Marco Bernardi’s ‘Travelling to the Sun’ underpins Serenity’s sound as an emotive house/techno label, with its gentle yet almost hypnotic chimes that layer neatly over raw and stripped back drums. Whilst ‘Little Tiny Crickets’ in contrast offers up the label’s usual B2 plot twist, with the track leaning more into the realms of IDM. Fast-paced in-your-face drums are met with squelchy raw synth work - perfectly showcasing Marco as a producer who’s really on another level. All proceeds of SER007 will be donated to Papyrus UK - a charity specialising in youth suicide prevention and MusicSpace.’

Serenity is a mental health charity label that is now back with more sonic gold, this time in the form of a reissue of Marco Bernardi aka Octogen's 'The Journeyman' from 2008 on Soma Recordings. It is an immersive, emotive sound with lush and ethereal pads and a moody bassline that keeps you locked. The B-side offers two original tracks from Bernardi 'Travelling to the Sun' is one to hypnotise floors with its hypnotic chimes and raw drums, while 'Little Tiny Crickets' delivers a fast-paced IDM twist with some killer synth work. As always, proceeds go to charity this time Papyrus UK who support youth suicide prevention and MusicSpace.
