The first track from the 2007 album Strangely Familiar, remade in 2025.  1st probably because it starts with 'A'.  this was never a proper track - written in about 40 mins originally.  hence the name.

a bit more love has gone into it 18 years later.  A bit.  not a lot.  but not a little either.  more love went into the cover art i reckon....

Another remake. This time from only about 10 years ago. Written in Singapore no less. And the OG is already here on SoundCloud. 

The general theme of all these remakes (aside from finishing the track or removing terrible mistakes) has been to add the vocals that I always had in my head but didn’t know how to do until magical library services provided affordable ways to great vocals. 

Simple chords in E minor/ G and a good groove from the original. I’ve played into that groove here. Some final flourishes of ear candy here and there for the acute of listening. 

Echoes Of The Past (Alpha One)

The original track was written c1997 by Danny Wilson. I seem to recall that I left him in my university bedroom for 24 hrs whilst I went out with my girlfriend. And came back to all my kit gone. Thankfully over at his was my kit and 4 1/2 minutes of grooving minimalist Scottish techno. 

Tried to just update it and sort out some timing issues. But it was losing its raw beauty. So I decided to dial it up and make it a different yet connected track. Still trying to echo the roots in early to mid 90s Scottish rave culture (eg Rezerection). Which was certainly Danny’s inspiration.  And the inspiration for the track name. 

I’ve lost touch with Danny in the last 10-12 years. So I’m going to send him this. See if it awakens those dormant rave remnants still swimming in the bloodstream.

A progressive dark-to-bright techno journey created entirely in Cubase and Omnisphere.
Designed as a cinematic evolution from darkness to light, with organic vocals, rhythmic synths and evolving textures.
128 BPM. Headphones or club system recommended.
