This is my 3 hour opening set for DVS1 at the Freifeld floor of Open Ground in Wuppertal.

It was really a pleasure to start the night with some ambient and reduced Techno / Bass to have a long Build up over three hours.

This is part of my DJ set at Open Ground on 08.11.2024. The closing set lasted 6 hours and 20 minutes; this recording is the last two hours. My set-up on the night was 2x Technics 1210 MK2 & X:ONE96 DJ mixer and the best sound system I have ever witnessed inside a club.

My most memorable set so far was recorded at Open Ground in Wuppertal. A big part of our community came to listen to our Instinkt Lab hosting on the Annex floor. The memories of this night truly mean something to me! Thanks to the Open Ground crew. I really felt at home. 

The soundsystem at annex is incredible suitable for deep, subheavy music and I was stoked to test stuff from my friends alongside other progressive and technoid productions.

With roots in classical orchestra and a detour through hip-hop culture, bb89’s musical journey reflects the diverse pathways that lead to electronic music. After a period of musical hiatus, his rediscovery of music through ghetto tech and breakbeats eventually guided him to the hypnotic realm of proper techno, where he found his true artistic home.

This journey of sonic exploration wasn’t just about finding a style – it was about discovering a culture. The techno scene, its clubs, and the music itself reignited his passion for both creating and performing. What draws him to techno is its unique duality: monotonous yet versatile, repetitive yet timeless.

Raised in Bristol, Jack Wallis’ earliest musical influences were shaped by dubstep, punk, and UK techno, shown by his early releases on Darwin’s label SPE:C. Following his move to Berlin in 2017, he and The Lady Machine established Unterwegs, an imprint to release music from like-minded talents, including Decka's pressurized, raw, and driving techno productions.

Since then, he has released on top-tier labels such as KEY Vinyl, AMTK+, Tar Hallow and Token. Pushing the boundaries of modern-day techno, the quality of his music is consistently recognized with multiple sold-out releases and a growing portfolio of remix commissions for esteemed artists such as Dubfire and Dimi Angelis. He now runs a second label with artist Roseen - Frameworks - where the duo released their debut album “Imaginary Places” in 2023. In September 2024, Decka released his first solo full-length LP "Exit" on Tar Hallow.

His fervent love for analog in the studio translates behind decks. DJ’ing only with vinyl since the beginning of his career, Decka’s sets not only highlight his clear-cut technique but are filled with moments of suspense and tension amidst high-octane energy, drawing on his extensive knowledge of techno, never limiting himself to just one style.

Originally hailing from the Ruhr Area he finally found his residency in Krefeld. His radioshow „Kopje Koﬃe“ formerly streamed on Birdcage Radio (Utrecht) is now broadcasted monthly from „Callshop Radio“ in Düsseldorf where OSE also studies at the „Institut für Musik und Medien“. His musical diversity is one of his trademarks. Expect the unexpected!
