This is a composition I kind of lost myself in. Not too sure how to describe it but Soundcloud's suggested tags were electronic, contemporary classical, orchestral and ambient...which seems about right. The inspiration, as well as the title, comes from a poem by Rainer Maria Rilke titled "You Said Live".

Fractured Rings

🇫🇷 La fin de tout homme.

La Couronne tient à ses marchandises, un navire militaire a donc été chargé de nous escorter jusqu'à bon port. C'est l'occasion pour les marins d'observer un autre type d'homme, et d'essayer de les comprendre.

Servir son pays, aligner sa vie au rythme des tambours de marche. Certains n'ont rien à perdre et sont à la recherche d'un but, d'autres ont tout à perdre, et rendent d'autant plus honorable le choix de s'éloigner de ses proches pour les défendre.
Malgré leur apparence soignée, tout porte à croire qu'ils ont déjà combattu et vu la mort.

Tous, dans leur regard, ont le même mal du pays, le même manque d'amour et de calme. Mais la fierté de servir, et de faire partie de quelque chose de plus grand, a pris le dessus. Le genre de sentiment qui vous pousse à vous sacrifier pour vos frères d'arme, tombés auparavant sous les feux ennemis. On peut facilement comprendre alors que le monde est déjà perdu. La vengeance que l'on méprend pour du courage n'a aucune limite, et le soldat qui tue pour venger le précédent participe à une réaction en chaîne qui mènera à la fin de tout homme.

Reste l'Espoir, guidé par les souvenirs de leurs proches, ils espèrent rentrer chez eux, et oublier tout ça. Beaucoup ne rentreront pas, les autres n'oublieront jamais.


🇬🇧The End of All Mankind.

The Crown values its merchandise, so a military ship has been assigned to escort us safely to port. It’s an opportunity for the sailors to observe another kind of man, and to try to understand them.
 To serve one’s country, to align one’s life to the rhythm of marching drums. Some have nothing to lose and seek a purpose; others have everything to lose, which makes their choice to leave loved ones behind in order to protect them all the more honorable. Despite their well-kept appearance, everything suggests they’ve already fought, and seen death.

In their eyes, they all carry the same homesickness, the same longing for love and peace. But the pride of serving, of being part of something greater, took over. It’s the kind of feeling that drives one to sacrifice themselves for fallen brothers-in-arms, lost to enemy fire. One quickly comes to understand that the world is already lost. Vengeance, mistaken for courage, knows no bounds, and the soldier who kills to avenge the last, only fuels a chain reaction that will lead to the end of all mankind.
Only Hope remains, guided by memories of loved ones, they hope to return home, and forget all of this. Many won’t return. The others will never forget.

🇫🇷 L’appel de la mer.

La cloche de quart résonne dans le port. La voile s'ouvre, et le départ de ce navire marchand marque le début d'une magnifique journée d'été. Notre voyage commence. Les cris des mouettes laissent lentement place aux chuchotements des vagues contre la coque. Un enivrant sentiment de liberté prend le coeur de chaque marin. Le soleil matinal traverse les nuages et irradie les voiles, qui prennent une couleur d'or. Pendant quelques secondes, tous se sentent invincibles.

L'euphorie de l'aventure, le triomphe de ce glorieux navire, les histoires à raconter une fois revenus. Sur cet océan si vaste, qui s'étend à perte de vue, et qui nous rappelle à quel point nous sommes bénis de pouvoir y voguer.

L'excitation est palpable, et tous ont hâte de répondre à l'appel irrésistible de l'océan. Mais la réalité reprend le dessus pendant un instant ; qu'est-ce qu'on laisse derrière nous, quels sont les risques de ne jamais les retrouver. La mer est irrésistible, mais impitoyable. Tous se tournent pour voir disparaître leur foyer à l'horizon.
Reste l'Espoir, ce doux sentiment que quelqu'un croit en vous, comme nos femmes et nos enfants qui attendent déjà notre retour. Chaque homme sur ce bâtiment est lié par ce même but : tenir la promesse faite à sa famille. L'Espoir est fort, mais seule notre détermination et la force de nos bras nous ramèneront à bon port.


🇬🇧 The Call of The Sea.

The watch bell rings out across the harbor. The sail unfurls, and the departure of this merchant ship marks the beginning of a beautiful summer day. Our journey begins. The cries of the seagulls slowly give way to the whispers of the waves against the hull. A heady sense of freedom fills the heart of every sailor. The morning sun pierces the clouds and bathes the sails in golden light. For a few fleeting seconds, all feel invincible.

The euphoria of adventure, the triumph of this proud vessel, the stories to be told upon our return. Out on this vast ocean, stretching beyond sight, we are reminded how blessed we are to sail upon it.

Excitement is in the air, and all are eager to answer the irresistible call of the sea. But reality briefly returns ; what are we leaving behind, and what are the chances we may never see it again? The sea is irresistible, but merciless. Each man turns to watch his home fade on the horizon.
 Hope remains, that tender feeling that someone believes in you, like our wives and children already waiting for our return. Every man aboard is bound by the same purpose: to keep the promise made to his family. Hope is strong, but only our resolve and the strength of our hands will bring us safely home.

🇫🇷 Nôtres sont les larmes.

L'un pense à sa fille, la douce mélodie de sa boîte à musique résonne encore dans sa tête. Notre marin rêveur profite de cette calme nuit, le sourire aux lèvres mais le coeur gonflé par le mal du pays. Il chérissait ce souvenir d'un adieu sur le port. Ses beaux cheveux blonds, poussés par le vent, cachaient les larmes de son enfant.

Il contemple les étoiles, en espérant qu'elle aussi ait les yeux levés vers le ciel, priant au retour de son père, mais son regard ne quitte pas l'horizon. Elle espère voir réapparaître le vaisseau qui lui a volé son parent. 
La fonction d'un tel voyage lui échappe à son âge. Pour elle, l'océan est cette frontière bleue qui lui interdit d'approcher. Mais son père
, lui, a dompté cette étendue, et vogue à sa surface. Elle sait qu'il reviendra.

Lui reprend ses esprits, les larmes n'ont pas coulé, mais on peut encore les voir dans ses yeux. Il doit commencer son quart à la barre, et respecter son engagement. On compte sur lui pour faire sa part, et il sait que ses compagnons, eux aussi, rêvent à leur foyer pendant ces calmes nuits d'été. 

Chacun connaît les risques. Les vents sont sans pitié et les courants sont fourbes, tous gardent à l'esprit le danger constant auquel ils font face. Le voyage est loin d'être terminé, mais reste l'Espoir. Que l'océan soit clément, et qu'il nous ramène à nos familles.


🇬🇧 Ours are the tears.

One thinks of his daughter, the soft melody of her music box still echoes in his mind. Our dreamy sailor enjoys this calm night, a smile on his lips but a heart heavy with homesickness. He cherishes the memory of a farewell at the port. Her beautiful blonde hair, blown by the wind, hid the tears on his child’s face.

He looks up at the stars, hoping she too has her eyes turned to the sky, praying for her father’s return. But her gaze doesn’t leave the horizon. She waits for the ship that took her parent away to reappear.
 At her age, the purpose of such a journey is hard to understand. To her, the ocean is a blue frontier she’s forbidden to approach. But her father has mastered this vastness and sails upon it. She knows he will return.

He brings himself back to the present. The tears haven’t fallen, but they’re still visible in his eyes. His watch at the helm is about to begin, and he must honor his duty. Others are counting on him to do his part, and he knows his companions, too, are dreaming of home on these quiet summer nights.

Each of them knows the risks. The winds are merciless, and the currents deceitful. They all remain aware of the constant danger that surrounds them. The journey is far from over, but Hope remains. May the sea be kind, and may it carry us back to our families.

An orchestral remix of Nayru's Song from The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages. Been meaning to do some more Zelda covers and this seemed to be a bit of a popular request for me to remix. Had some fun writing some new material for the track as it's pretty short. Also I'm very due for an Oracle of Ages replay tbh. Just consider these a follow up to my Minish Cap arrangements!

The lyrics for "Destiny" were originally written for a movie soundtrack but ultimately did not work out. So I thought it would be fun to see what AI could do with this, pulling out all the stops regarding orchestration and vocal ability. I was imagining an epic 60s movie theme vibe with this one and do you think I got what I wanted? Thoughts??
