Overture for Overture: Amongst other reasons, the French spelling of Ouverture is employed in order to foreground its connotation with "opening" (ouvert-ure) in a more literal sense. Such a reading invokes a negative space in a continuity, a parting of the curtain, a rupturing moment in which resides any and all hope for a unity beyond that which separates. 

Widerklang is torn from another 'prologue to a prologue,' the dedication from Goethe’s Faust, the opening lines of which serve as an epigraph for Ouverture—"Widerklang:" “Ihr naht euch wieder,
schwankende Gestalten / Die früh sich einst dem trüben Blick gezeigt.” [You once again draw near, wavering forms / who first appeared before too-clouded eyes.] Meaning to “resound” or “echo,” Widerklang suggests a sound familiar to us, repeated and yet wholly changed in its form. It is further an homage to the Eco Ensemble, for whom the work was written.

This lively overture captures the witty energy and joyful chaos of a Mozartian opera, bustling with rapid strings and playful woodwinds. It's the perfect soundtrack for historical comedies, elegant scenes of celebration, or any project needing a touch of classical brilliance.

A mozartian Morning

"La Double échelle" (The Double Ladder), an opéra-comique in one act with music by Ambroise Thomas (1811–1896), premiered in Paris on 23 August 1837. Thomas's first opera produced, the work achieved notable success, playing for 247 performances before being dropped from the repertory. The story is a lighthearted farce involving two suitors using separate ladders to woo their beloved. Much is owed to Rossini and Auber here, not just in the subject but the music itself; the 26-year-old Thomas has not yet developed his original voice, but his masterful orchestration is already starting to materialize. The overture begins with a rustically elegant minuet, which gives way to a sinuous cello melody above pizzicato strings; brief recapitulations are followed by a jaunty Allegro carried through varied orchestral textures. World premiere recording. This orchestral realization was created using Finale 27 and NotePerformer 5.

3148 AD, 400 years after the last great asteroid wiped out most of human civilization.
As it collided with the Earth, the face of the planet changed radically. Nature, as a whole, has disappeared. 
The last remnants of humanity must now hide underground; however, many starve and yearn to see the light of day.
Among them, young Aries dreams of climbing back to the lost world above, chasing a hope no one dares to name.

【BOF21】Lidelle feat. eili + AKA - inurned nature

Program note:
"The Pit" is an opera that follows a lost man who at the outset of each act, climbs up from a pit to arrive at three different versions of reality. The first, is the back streets of a city at night, the second is a circus of robots, and the third, is the halls of the overlords, the powerful creatures pulling the strings of reality.

The music of the overture prefaces the first act, and is tragic in tone. There are three main parts, the climbing music, the city music, and the return of the opening clarinet theme. It opens with the clarinet presenting a fragmented melody that is extended and developed for the first large section of the overture. The second section is ushered in by the basses and represents the city. It has a pulsing sardonic quality. The strings are tense and the woodwinds laugh. Jokes are told in the clarinet and bassoon. This gives way to a tragic theme led by the low brass. After a brief pause, the work ends with a return to the opening clarinet material accompanied by the first violins.

The Playground

"Gille et Gillotin", an opéra-comique in one act with music by Ambroise Thomas (1811–1896), premiered in Paris on 22 April 1874. Written in 1859 and originally entitled "Gillotin et son père", the work lay dormant until the Opera-Comique mounted a production 15 years later - over Thomas's objections. It was a failure, but this brief yet evocative overture stirs our imaginations immediately; fifes and drum intone a simple military theme which is eventually taken up by the full orchestra in masterful orchestration, replete with fanfares. World premiere recording. This orchestral realization was created using Finale 27 and NotePerformer 5.

This track is part of the intro video of the arcology in which the story of "Holy Byte" takes place.
"Holy Byte" will be a cybergoth music short film.
An arcology is a megastructure, inhabiting around 200,000 citizens.
The arcology is shaped like an egg and is therefore called "Eggology".

This is a futuristic & fantastic electronic track, resembling the megastructure that constantly radiates menace and alienation.

Uli Nicholas
With 23 years dedicated to the art of composition, Uli Nicholas (Ulisses Nicolau Alberto Barros) creates music that bridges the gap between classical tradition and contemporary styles. His musical foundation was built at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), where he studied Classical Music for two years and was a student of Maestro Joca Costa for three. He further refined his piano technique under the guidance of pianists and professors Liana Monteiro and Leandro Rocha, the latter also being an accomplished composer.

A multi-instrumentalist who also masters the acoustic and electric guitar, Uli possesses a unique intellectual background, having studied Physics for three years at UFRN. This blend of logic and emotion defines his eclectic catalog of entirely original compositions and lyrics. His work spans genres and explores vast themes: from philosophy, history, social criticism, and environmental preservation to the vibrant energy of Pop, celebrating love and pure fun.

Today, Uli continues to expand his creative horizons by focusing on meticulous arrangement and digital orchestration, maintaining his rigorous workflow of composing via notation software. His musical production is overseen by Rogério Vieira, a renowned producer in Brazil who mentors students internationally. At its core, Uli's work is driven by a desire to transmit messages of love and hope. His compositions often explore deep spiritual reflections, resonating with themes of faith and transcendent values that speak directly to the soul. All music and lyrics are solely authored by Uli Nicholas.

Daniel Zajicek is a composer and video artist. Most interested in beauty and the bizarre, his musical output consists of solo, chamber, choral, electronic, video, installation, operatic, orchestral, and theater music. Performances of his music have taken place throughout the United States, the Czech Republic, and the Far East-most notably at the International Computer Music Conference, the SEAMUS national conference, Diverse Works Flikerlounge, Society of Composers Inc., Imagine II, Florida Electro-acoustic Music Festival, Most Significant Bytes, Lewis University Bytes concert series, the NewTown Pasadena/SCREAM Sounding Images program, MusicAcoustic 2005: Mix (Beijing), the University of Missouri-Kansas City’s Musica Nova, and the Mckinney Repertory Theater. He has been the recipient of the Bertha Mallard Scolarship for Music Composition, the Richard and Candice Faulk Composition Scholarship, the Merrill Ellis Memorial Composition Scholarship, and as a pianist, Daniel was given a scholarship from the National Federation of Music Clubs. Additional honors for his music have come from the Missouri State Music Teachers National Association, the National Guild of Piano Teachers, and ASCAP.
 
Video works by Daniel have been shown at Newtown’s Pop-Up films, Diverse Works Flickerlounge, 4D DREAM-a-thon, Sounding Images, and Most Significant Bytes, among others. His video Self Portrait is released on the first installment of Buffet DVD (buffetdvd.com).
 
Daniel holds degrees from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (BM Composition & BM Piano Performance), the University of North Texas (MM Composition), and Rice University (DMA Composition). He has taught music technology and music theory at Rice University, The Art Institute of Houston, and Collin County Community College. While at the University of North Texas, he served as audio/visual specialist for the College of Music and helped oversee the construction and operation of the College of Music Computer Lab Recording Studio.

George Papajohn (b. 1998 Milwaukee) is a composer, improvisor, and multi-instrumentalist currently based in the San Francisco Bay Area. His recent work engages with latent tensions of identity held within the material, historical, and phenomenological aspects of sound. 

His music has been performed by Ensemble Dal Niente, the Northwestern University Contemporary Music Ensemble, and by frequent collaborators Cameron Roberts and Julia Ansolabehere. George earned his B.M. in music composition at the Northwestern University Bienen School of Music where he studied with Alex Mincek, Hans Thomalla, and Jay Alan Yim. He is currently pursuing a PhD in music composition at the University of California, Berkeley.

Brisbane’s ‘Ultimate Party Conductor’ 

JAYMAK has been a dominant DJ figure in both local and domestic scenes over the last 13 years. 

A JAYMAK set is ENERGY. To unite the crowd into an absolute rager. No genre is off limits. It’s his unique style of open-format and scratching that’s helped him build an impressive list of residencies, including: The Met main stage, Prohibition, Kenjin and YOT Club Brisbane and Gold Coast. JAYMAK also specialises in more niche showcase nights at Sunday Service (Ling Ling’s) and Su Casa. There’s no stage too big or too small.

An exciting feature of JAYMAK’s performances is the use of his own mashups and edits. Over eight years he has created over 1,000 mashups and edits which gives audiences tunes they’ve heard before in a way they’ve NEVER heard it before. His ability to create mashups and edits was recognised early on – in 2015 – becoming the weekly mashup creator for Nova 106.9’s radio show. His edits are now enjoyed by thousands around the world via numerous DJ Pools, as well as featured on Diplo and Friends through BENZI’s Trap Series, and his latest mashup pack hit #1 on Hypeddit top 100.

JAYMAK has his sights firmly set on a big 2025 – look forward to his visit.

Alex Thode (he/him) would first like you to know that not only is the “e” at the end of his last name not silent, but that he is also a composer and arranger most known for his work in the pageantry arts. He resides in Waukesha, Wisconsin with his cat, Buzz. An alumnus of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Alex composes and arranges for marching bands across the continental United States.

Alex's clientele have been Bands of America (BOA) Regional Champions and Finalists, UIL State Finalists and Area Champions, and WGI Winds World Champions, with Finalists in every classification. He has also had the privilege of having his arrangements performed in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and the Tournament of Roses Bandfest.

In addition to his compositions and arrangements for the pageantry arts, Alex also composes symphonic band and chamber percussion works.

In his free time, Alex enjoys watching movies and believing he’s a professional film critic, hiking and pretending that he’s athletic, traveling to National Parks — of which he’d eventually like to visit all — and acting like he’s Marco Polo, playing piano, guitar and a variety of kalimbas, and being with good company.

Pedro Moura Correia is a music producer and sound engineer whose cinematic and textural compositions blend organic and electronic elements. With international experience across studio and stage, he crafts immersive music designed to elevate film, television, and visual storytelling.
