The New Colossus (Mother of Exiles) by Eliot Hinson 
Composed Fall 2024 for Full Orchestra
Inspired by the poem of the same name by Emma Lazarus 

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

“Luna Requiem” sets the stage with a haunting overture — a melancholic fusion of piano, wind, and strings that echoes the silence before a storm. Emotional, melodious, and quietly powerful, it marks the dawn of a silent uprising.

Valutious's Theme and Dormon Overture

The Overture to 'L'Eau merveilleuse' by Albert Grisar (1808-1869), premiered at the Théâtre de la Renaissance in Paris on 30 January 1839. Grisar was a popular and prolific composer in his day and the immediate precursor of Offenbach, by whom his œuvre was completely overshadowed. An opéra-bouffon in two acts, 'L'Eau merveilleuse' is a farcical romp involving a love triangle between a snake-oil salesman, his ward, and a traveling comedian. The orchestral realization here is a world premiere, created using Finale 27 and NotePerformer4. Transcribed from the full orchestral score.

Fun Facts:
Overture #113 was also a late addition to The Concept Album.
The Concept Album was originally conceived in the spring and summer of 1983.
Much of the music for that album was composed in 1983, although not many of the songs were actually finished at that time.
The talkover is performed by George's Dad, Peter.
The beginning was supposed to be the sound of someone walking along a busy promenade onto a beach and then starting to strum an acoustic guitar.
George attempted to record this at the Sidmouth International Folk Festival.
Unfortunately it was a bit busy and he collided with a couple of other festivalgoers, which put the guitar out of tune.
When he sat on a rock and played the first C-chord, it sounded hideous.
It was very funny, albeit not particularly successful.
The #113 comes from the song being the 113th song in George's chronological list.

We are now brefugees, living in brexile very near the border of the Czech Republic, Austria and Germany. If you live in (the crumbling remains of) the uk, do yourself a favour and leave. The upgrade in life quality will blow your mind.

* What do we stand for as a label?

We support all independent musicians who are doing something we find interesting. Our team members all have formal music education qualifications.

We are against corporate brainwash muzak, their puppet friends in the mass media, and many other corporate activities. We will fight their desecration of music until either it stops or we die. 

We believe in helping others in the face of corrupt laws and a broken system. We are pro democracy, green energy and free speech.

We're politically liberal. We cannot support the republicans, maga or gun violence in the usa. We don't see there's any real difference, other than in name, between the christian far right in the USA and the taliban in Afghanistan.

In the uk we are broadly pro LibDem/Green/Labour/SNP. We are VERY anti-tory, bnp, ukip, and any of their friends and associates. We have no trust at all in the uk right wing press monopoly and the bbc. Beware the bbc and its claims of neutrality. It is the propaganda mouthpiece of the tory party. It even charges a propaganda tax called the licence fee. But we like Test Match Special and Radio 6, so does that make us hypocrites...? Hmm.

We support independence for Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Cornwall. We support the individual and the underdog. We are anti-putin and his war, and pro-Ukraine.
