Owls (Djyamizoa remix)

This recording features two (or more) Tawny owls calling to each other in the gardens around my house, and was captured just after midnight on Boxing Day 2024. The surrounding area was peacefully quiet with only one solitary car passing.  The mist that had covered the country for a few days was dripping from the branches of our garden trees and falling from the guttering, but the evening was dry.

The owls couldn't be seen, and seem to be moving around between calls. It was a wonderfully peaceful way to close out Christmas Day.

Her essays, articles, and short fiction have appeared in Flyway:Journal of Writing and Environment, Publisher’s Weekly, WBUR’s Cognoscenti, The Huffington Post, Pangyrus, Brain Child, Literary Mama, The Writer, Writer’s Digest, YARN (Young Adult Review Network), The Indiana Review, Cricket Magazine for Children, and elsewhere. She has authored and edited numerous textbooks, taught writing at Boston University, Brandeis University, and Grub Street, and is an Author Accelerator Certified Book Coach.

I'm writing in sound, it is the mating calls of the Owl in April. I join in with my breath. I listen. The cracking of bark. The breeze of a wing, travels. Another tree and one in the distance. A call to attract, another to solidify a bond. To solidify a bond.

Mating calls of the Owl

A fast, aggressive folk-rock song about sliding out of control in a car, searching for home, roaming starry highways, and shedding skins into new incarnations.

I am an experimental musician, sound artist and performer whose work explores the rural landscape of Suffolk (with a particular focus on the morphology of working class soundscapes). I also explore how conceived notions of the pastoral landscape inform and influence ideas of national identity. 
 
My work uses manipulated field recordings, homemade instruments, music concrete and modified electronics salvaged from potential landfill to create textural explorations of timbre with instinctive, chance-based arrangements that mimic the rural soundscape.

Born and raised in New Zealand, Dylan Paul Ware travelled the world hobo-style, sleeping in cemeteries and empty buildings, a sheepskin jacket and a guitar,

a pocket of songs
and a solitude
thinking too much...

There were a lot of adventures. After some time in Germany, The Channel Islands, Bulgaria, India, and Romania, Dylan eventually settled in Istanbul, Turkey, where he currently lives.

Influenced primarily by the musical poets Bob Dylan and Paul Simon, the guitar work of Peter Green and Jimmy Page, and overall, by the music of The Beatles, Dylan has released three full albums, six EPs/singles, and a compilation album of other (international) artists' interpretations of The infinity Chamber's songs.

Dylan formed The Infinity Chamber in Istanbul, with Utku Karamuk on bass, Ertugrul Akyuz on drums, and various lead guitarists, and they conduct fairly raucous concerts throughout the city.

The Infinity Chamber are currently at work on a fourth album.

The singles "Man Shaving" and "The Opposite of Everything" were released in 2023, and "Get Down" in 2024. The latter two of these releases involving collaborative work with England's John Byrne on lead guitar, and the most recent of which, featuring Zeynep Eran on backing vocals. 2025 has seen "Moonfrog", with the same crew, and the frantic folk-rock ode to sliding on ice, "Highway".
